No ****, Sherlock returns on New Years Day in Episode 1 "The Empty Hearse" Whatever else, it's clever marketing from these people. Anyone going to guess how he survived the jump then? In a live stunt by the BBC, an empty hearse was pictured carrying a floral tribute with the broadcast date for the new episode of Sherlock as it was driven around London. As a man drove the black vehicle around the Capital, heads turned to read the flowers as well a sign in the driver's window which read '#SHERLOCKLIVES'. It was certainly one way to get viewer's attention, rather than just reveal the date via Twitter, but it wasn't long before fans took to the social networking site to express their excitement. sherlock, series 3, benedict cumberbatch, martin freeman, new years day, funeral hearse, live stunt Benedict Cumberbatch returns as Sherlock in series three [FLYNET] Most were delighted at the fact that they only had a matter of weeks to wait until the new series kicked off. Episode one 'The Empty Hearse' will air on January 1 and BBC One have also confirmed that episode 2 will air on Sunday January 5 and episode 3 on Sunday January 12. News of the live publicity stunt was first hinted at last night when the show's producer Sue Vertue posted a mysterious message which read: "Keep your eyes peeled in the morning rush hour and pay your respects." The hearse was spotted outside the hospital of Sherlock's apparent demise on Gower Street at 9.30am this morning, and from there on fans knew that January 1 would be the date that they'd finally find out what happened to the detective. sherlock, series 3, benedict cumberbatch, martin freeman, new years day, funeral hearse, live stuntA few teaser pictures have been released of Benedict Cumberbatch & Martin Freeman [BBC] The second season of Sherlock ended earlier this year where Benedict Cumberbatch's character was seen falling from the roof of St Bart's Hospital and was laid to rest, but it seems that he may not be dead after all. Speculation over what had really happened to Sherlock began when a teaser trailer for season three was released in August and showed Sherlock alive and well whilst watching over his own grave as his sidekick John Watson mourned him. As well as the return of Sherlock, there will also be a new villain in series three who will be played by 'The Killing' star Lars Mikkelson. He is said to have taken on the role of the "terrifying" Charles Augustus Magnussen.
I never expected I would enjoy this, not normally my kind of thing at all... But it's bloody brilliant.
Either that, or, looking at all the complicated theories on the interweb, it'll turn out he was just lucky.
I first sat down to watch this by accident, in fact I think I ended up watching it cos the remote was too far for me to be arsed to pick up, and wasn't expecting anything great at all. I was blown away tbh, its a good slant on the dynamic duo, the casting seemed perfect, and the scripts were well crafted and acted. Am looking forward to this!
Sorry but with some of you going on about this Sherlock (never seen the new one) going to watch Season 1 now, As growing up as a kid always thought Jeremy Brett was the best Sherlock, and on that i bid you adieu
I'm a bit of a traditionalist, but if you've read the original stories, in my opinion the series faithfully brings the spirit of those characters into the modern world. I don't know anyone that's into Holmes that hasn't enjoyed it.
I've never been into television. But this show is absolutely fantastic. Looking forward to the next series. My guess is that Molly has a great deal to do with the faking of his death (mentioned in the trailer posted above) and that the cyclist that ran into John in the finale of the last series plays a part. Wish they'd stretched Moriarty's character out for another series though. What an actor he was.
I'd say the fact that Molly works in the morgue at St. Barts is a massive key. I mean, when Irene fakes her death, Sherlock is certain that it is her that he sees in the morgue. I'll never be able to look at Andrew Scott again without thinking 'you evil bastard'.
Wasn't there something about a suicide that wasn't as well? Why were those children scared of him? Aye, Moriarty was played superbly. It's a had act to follow all in all, what with the death mystery as well. Must be hard to write something to keep the same level.
My guess is that the suicide that wasn't involved a body swap. He got Molly to create one that looked like him for the death scene, and the children somehow saw it.
It's bugged me how they didn't explain what that girl screamed at him. I hope that question is answered. I just hope that they've come up with a good reason for faking his death and his 'resurrection' follows a story that makes sence.
Makes sense. I just accidentally stumbled across this photo from Season 3 filming... [nsfw] please log in to view this image I'm thinking that phonebox might have involvement for some reason...[/nsfw]
