Assume that quite a few people on here still play Sat / Sun football and may have heard of this, not sure how 'nationwide' it is, but the Sheffield and Hallamshire FA have approved the use of roll on roll off subs in Saturday and Sunday football next year, which I personally think is frigging stupid. I've always been an advocate of the theory that the rules should be the same at all levels and that voting this in is simply stupid. I understand that the precedent for this has come from changes to kids football, which will allow youngsters to make roll on roll off subs, something I fully agree with as it'll give more kids playing time and will allow for more experimentation and rest time when young kids play. has anyone else heard of this rule change anywhere else in the country?
No, but I wish the FA would adapt the same principle throughout the whole football pyramid, I think it's a good idea!
Upto the age of say 16yrs it makes sense to have as many involved as possible. But from that age on stick to how it is. Football for kids should be about fun and learning the skills, imo. For the over 16's... If it aint broke dont fix it. Not heard of anyone doing it that way though yet.
So when Watford took the lead against us last season you'd have been quite happy for them to bring on 4 central defenders to replace their striker/attacking midfielders knowing if we got past them they could just reverse the change and bring on Iwelumo and co again after they'd had a nice break? As far as Sunday League goes, we got shafted by that one week when we had 13 players available (rearranged game played midweek) and our manager agreed to us using RORO subs. At this point the opposition revealed that their other 5 spare players were running late and went into the game with 18 players that they just chopped and changed as they saw fit.
