Likewise Ben...my band takes it name from a Small Faces song and we play a few of their and the Faces/Rolling Stones numbers (another band he graced on tour). He had a distinctive sound and was a great musician. It will be strange to play those numbers at our gig tomorrow. RIP Ian McLagen and thank you for the music!
Sadly we reach the point where time takes it's toll; great musician who made the keyboard sing. Tin Soldier was the song of it's time, but his contribution was pure gold. RIP
RIP. Been quite a few of the RIP threads for musicians recently. Sadly we are beginning to reach that point in time when a lot of musicians of the day are getting toward the end.
Just popped to the train station to pick my daughter up & was thinking along similar lines.
You should come on to this tomorrow night Lincs
You're not wrong... That's a great number! I think we'll be playing Tin Soldier, Itchycoo Park and Lazy Sunday tomorrow night for sure!
I'll have to get over to see you one night. I'm guessing I'd like it, as long as Chazz & his lethal Bottom are absent. One more
Good article (and great tracks inside it!) http://www.theguardian.com/music/mu...eat-bands-greater-dead-69?CMP=EMCNEWEML6619I2
People need enjoy all great musicians from the 60's and 70's. They're not going to be here forever. In the last couple of years or so we've lost Lou Reed, Jack Bruce, Tommy Ramone, Johnny Winters, Phil Everly, JJ Cale, Ray Manzarek, Trevor Bolder, Alvin Lee and Bobby Womack.
Does this mean that there is only Ronnie Wood left from The Faces? sorry but I lose track with so many pop stars from such a great era leaving the stage.
Hopefully you would - it's pretty much 60s and 70s with one or two of my own thrown in! We have to play Mr. Blue Sky for Mr. & Mrs. Reinhold or else he'll 'bray us' Shame you're not over this way tonight Ben, we're at the Railway in Cottingham...we'll give it our best in Mac's Memory!
