    ... must admit I never 'got' Bottom but The Young Ones, The New Statesman and his cameos as Flasheart in the incomparable Blackadder series were brilliant ... RIP Rik you'll be sorely missed <rose>

    Shame really, was a proper slapstick comedian, Bottom and Blackadder stand out for me.

    I was a massive fan, my favourite character was the one he started out with, Kevin Turvey.

    The young ones & blackadder were class. He´s up there with Rowan Atkinson, Norman Wisdom & John Clees imo.

    We have our difference in opinion on football FF, but not comedy it seems. Even as a teenager I found Bottom puerile but his other stuff was great.

    He released a world cup anthem in 2010 and there is a movement to make it the official world cup song.

    Is not that bad actually.
