Anyone see this? http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/2013/08/14/red-bull-brewery-legal-la_n_3754678.html All you twitterers need to get the hashtag #redbulls**t going!
This is just sabre rattling by Red Bull, they would be unlikely to win a trademark dispute due to the differing products and names, if it were Redwell energy drink then yes, or Red bull beers then of course but i think and judge would see that a) you'd have to be rather thick to mix them up and b) theres no way Redwell will affect Red bull's revenue. the arrogance shown by Red Bull is disappointing though, wonder if they could persuade lotus to help with the legal fees, would gain national attention then as two F1 did battle in court and national attention is what they need as red bull come out of this looking like a bully and could damage their carefully maintained image.
I must admit that this new microbrewery has slipped past my radar which is unusual to say the least, If I bought Red Bull I would now boycott it as I find this OTT nonsense to be ridiculous. As a next best thing does anyone know of any Pub that sells Redwell beers so that the next time myself and my merry band of pissheads have a night out we can support them that way.
I can't believe the sheer arrogance of Red Bull - I think I tried it once and didn't particularly llike the taste. Even if I did, this crass stupidity would make me choose an alternative. I believe I saw something about the Jubilee (St Leonards Road I think) is going to start selling it.
If I drank Red Bull it would be boycotted immediately. Absolutely pathetic way for a big company to whom image is important to behave. i hope this action backfires on them and they get all the bad publicity they deserve. I heard on the radio this morning that they "own" Red as they put in a trademark and nobody objected. Seems bizarre that a company can trademark a colour.
I tried it once as it is supposed to give you energy - it was so gassy that all it gave me was wind. Perhaps that is why it gives you wings - vertical take off!!! I'm away next week showing my wife a good husband - I'm leaving the golf clubs at home - but when we come back I will have a night out with my mates and I will ring the brewery to find out where their beer is sold - my bit for local businesses!! If it is as good as Humpty Dumpty or Grain Brewery I will let you know.
Apparently all of these have stocked Redwell beers: Norwich Taphouse Surrey Tavern The Jubilee Coach and Horses The Murderers The Playhouse The Plasterers Norwich Arts Centre
Brilliant move by Red Bull! Promoting a small brewery by giving them loads of attention and paying for all the court fees (you would hope)
Excellent!!! More good news for a local brewery - http://www.edp24.co.uk/news/beeston_brewery_scoops_gold_in_national_awards_1_2335568 I knew Mark in his previous job and he has only worked at Beeston brewery for less than 10 years!!!
Fantastic news - "However, after an outpouring of social media support for Redwell on Twitter and Facebook it emerged that Red Bull’s lawyers had backed down, as long as Redwell agreed not to produce energy drinks. This morning the Norwich brewery, based at The Arches in Bracondale, has thanked its Twitter followers using its @Redwellbeer account. It said: “Looking forward to finalising a deal with Red Bull today, we will be keeping our name but need to make sure we can use it freely." The amount of 'free advertising' they've got is incredible, something they could NEVER have paid for and I'll certainly be looking out for their beers next time I go oout!!!
