Redknapp has accused some of the players during his time at Spurs of asking Old Trout face to get them out of England friendlies . http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/27969231 We are linked to or have signed a few of the players that fit into this accusation , can't say im massively bothered considering the way players get vilified once they put on the 3lions but as fans of our own players we do cheer for their inclusion into international squads
Wouldn't be surprised if Defoe was included in that. They haven't really had many England regulars though have they? The likes of Lennon, Crouch, Dawson also got occasional call-ups while there but none of them played that often did they? It won't be Tom, he's not played enough for England to start turning down friendlies. Only just actually read the article. Great response from Gerrard. People will see the headline and think it means England players don't care. He's right, Harry should put up or shut up.
As AKCJ suggests, probably motivated in some extent for not getting the England job. I see no reason, even if asked the direct question why he would come out of with this.
If he has said this then surely he must have known people would respond and want to know who. He certainly likes the publicity. Twat!!!
i kinda thought , Maybe King , Walker and Defoe , possible Lennon . Its great him spouting this today but we dont know the context as quite a few England / Spurs players have suffered with continuous injuries
King, Lennon, Bent, Jenas, Woodgate and Bentley never looked committed to the cause, and Crouch is suspect as well. Parker, Defoe or Huddlestone in the clear.
I don't think Gerrard likes him very much anyway. I'm sure in his book arry says Gerrard text him saying he wishes he'd got the England job when Roy did. When questioned about it Gerrard said something like he'd never had Harry's phone number before and that he should prove it.
I wouldn't be surprised if this happened a lot during Capello's reign. Most of the England squad were clearly as miserable as hell with life under him - particularly those who didn't even get to play.
^^ This ^^ On the other hand, how many club managers have influenced, or tried to influence, their players not to be available for their national team? I do believe Redknapp should throw out the names, as, just on the basis of what this thread has thrown up, there is a strong probability that lads who did no such thing are being tarnished with the same Redknapp brush. Was Redknapp just talking about English lads? Shouldn't the Ian Wright thread be merged into this one?
