Hull misses out on rail electrification but the government are electrifying upto Selby, proves the government don't care about Hull.

Why would TPExpress want to run diesels from Manchester when 80% of the line is electric? Government are clueless.

They will have no choice, they can't drop us due to franchise commitments, but yet another blunder by a clueless government I agree.

Pretty sure they could stretch the budget to include Hull meaning TPE and Northern could run electric to Leeds/Manchester and York.
One of the UKs biggest citys and probably soon to be the biggest without electric trains.

When have Hull ever had a fair throw of the dice? We had a 'deputy prime minister' for many a year and he did nothing for the city. We also had a Home Secretary who was just as bad but even when we did get a good throw of the dice, The Humber Bridge, the dice were loaded by Barbara Castle giving it a 'White Elephant' tag for many a year with the terms and conditions of the government loan to build it.

They could, but sadly it was to be expected, elrctrification to Leeds allowing electrics to Manchester, and to Selby would allow them to Sheffield/London. Network Rail said there was a strong business case but as usual, the Government just weren't interested. With electrification to Bristol and the Midland Mainline we will indeed have the unfortunate title of largest non-electrified city.

On the other hand you hear about all the problems with electric trains so maybe diesel isnt too bad electric is cheaper to run but rail tickets staythe same price.

Electric trains are far more reliable than diesel equivalents. The only positive to be had unfortunately is that we can keep moving in a powercut.

Maybe someone who makes diesel generators for a living could do a deal with the rail companies to provide them with emergency back ups.

Hull's simply not as important as Leeds, Sheffield and Manchester. Sorry to break it to you all.

I don't care what the trains are like, I mean I want the tracks electrified and a deal done for the emergency backup generators to keep them that way. Hopefully the electrification of everything will kill off a few of the kids who think it's a good idea to trespass and delay everybody by playing stupid games, and the then rest will stop doing it. (or at least be stopped from breeding due to their deaths)

Hull may not be as important but the rail network connecting them is...the Manchester trains are always heaving throughout the day and get busier at Leeds this is important to the rail company and the people commuting...even the 22.22 Leeds to Hull sunday service is atleast 65% ful depending on the amount of carriages used alternating between 2,3,4 carriages

What's more annoying is, the fact that MP's, and the public for that matter, bang on about how Hull is apparently a 'Bad City' and then do nothing about it.

It's so annoying. Why Hull is always excluded and left behind, is just a mystery.
