    Well, blow me down, who'd have thought that there were backhanders to FIFA vice-presidents flying around as soon as the bid had been awarded to one of the most impractical places on earth to stage a major football tournament <yikes>

    Surely it's not too late to change the venue for the 2022 event - though that won't help all the Indians and Nepalese who have died during stadium construction because health and safety rules have been flagrantly breached and passports withheld so that they're virtually slaves <doh>

    <applause>

    Surely the most appalling episode in the history of the sport.

    Those involved should bow their heads in shame (they won't, of course)

    Quelle surprise! The whole event should be boycotted and let FIFA rot in it's juices. I feel nothing but utter disgust.

    It's shocking.

    Unfortunately, this appears to be yet more evidence on the same bloke, Jack Warner, who has already resigned for taking bribes on a separate matter. The problem is this allows FIFA to claim this is a one-off incident from a careless and unscrupulous individual, rather than evidence of any widespread bribing (which I don't for an instant doubt took place). What they really need is one or two other officials to be caught.

    If the national associations do not take action I can see many players refusing to go.
