    Have you already booked any flights? If not then I would recommend looking at the Lisbon area and coast I.e. Estoril & Cascais. We rented a finca (farmhouse) at Sintra which is near Lisbon and the coast and you have the best of all worlds nearby - the capital city, historic sites plus sea and sand! We have also been to the Algarve which is great but the Lisbon Coast (and Sintra in particular) is miles better in my opinion

    That picture, Olm has put up is the seedier part of Albufeira.

    When i went there 2 years ago, there was a lot of English, Dutch and Portuegese families around the main centre where there are more bars, better restaurants and the beach nearby. There's other things like Water Parks nearby also.

    I'd say it's family friendly apart from the Strip part.

    Yeah there are two totally different parts to Albufeira .
    The old town is still lively but its mostly families with their kids getting drunk rather than marauding yoof .
    The Strip is also on the eastern edge of the resort and is quite a way to stumble into by accident .
