Has anyone watched the current series about three different species of Penguins? If you haven't I highly recommend it, the camerawork is superb. They've used 50 robot cameras to get amongst them and some of the things shown are amazing. Below is the link for BBC I-Player, must see if you enjoy wildlife films. I saw abit on Monday and thought it was fantasic. It was quite funny when the Turkey Vulture nicked the camara that was hidden as a egg and then a female penguin tried to incubate the same thing. There was another bit where a group of penguins pushed the robotic camara penguin down a clift.
You should watch both episodes, what they have to go through to get to their nesting grounds is amazing. You watched part of the 2nd episode, there's another episode next week when the cicks are on their own. Superb tv.
I've been up close to penguins when I was in the Falklands, and on a trip to S Georgia as a photog. They look pretty, and funny but let me tell you... They stink of fishy ****. Honestly it's bloody awful. Imagine rotten fish, that's been eaten, then shat out. They smell like that. They are also angry. Short and angry. If they were footballers they'd all be Barmby. Cept smellier. Elephant Seals are funny too, although they don't smell, which I thought odd.
