I see Celtic/Rangers are trying to get access to the top flight.

I'm all for this as long as they start in the Ismithian (sp?) or similar, which just like Chelsea Reserves they won't. It was interesting to see this post by a Wigan fan:

In 1968, Wigan Athletic were founder members of the Northern Premier League, known since 1994 as the UniBond League. Winning the league title in 1970–71, Leading goalscorer with 42 goals, including 7 hatricks, was Geoff Davies who scored 28 goals in the following 1971–72 season. He left to play in America with Eusebio, (and against Pele, George Best, Rodney Marsh, and Franz Beckenbauer). After 34 failed election attempts, including one controversial but headline-making application in 1972 to join the Scottish League Second Division, Wigan Athletic were elected to the Football League in 1978. Yes we applied to the SL 2div and got rejected, got on with things and within 28 years got into the prem. THAT my friends is something we wigganers are proud of all 78,000 of us and to take18k to a game is also more than 20% of the population. Oh and for the 'big' boys, crowds don't get 3 points, winning games does. We are there because we EARNED it.

I think we should re-build Hadrians wall. We don't want or need Celtic or Rangers in England. End of.

agree we dont need them to make the Premier League any better, all it will do is make it harder to get there for a few years and then 2 there will be 2 less English in the Premier League!

They shouldn't be just placed in the premier league, they should have to start from league 2 atleast... besides neither of them are good enough for the Prem, to me they'd be mid table championship teams.

If they want it that badly they should start in the bottom league. End of.

Also, if Celtic and Rangers were to join, the rest of the SPL would eventually demand places too.

There would be other problems for English teams if the Old Firm got into the Premiership. 1) would it mean that there would be 2 extra English teams being demoted. 2) How would the big 4 English teams feel if any of them failed to get into the Champions League but the Old Firms did. To be honest I cannot se any reason for allowing Celtic or Rangers into any English Football League

They wouldn't improve the quality of football. They would just bring bigoted, racist chants down and smash up city centres.

It's called the EPL for a reason, Let's kick the Welsh ****ers out and put a block on the Cross dressing bastards.

The only reason they want in the premier league is the money. Obviously getting knocked out of the champions league quualifiers by some team no-one has heard of doesn't pay very well!

The Old Firm are desperate to play in the Premier League, the FA have no intention of letting them, end of story.
