Anyone else being constantly abused? I never realised until today that you could add rep to other users and then add a comment - personal favourites of mine (all of which are from Erik) - "You're going to end up alone, jobless and addicted to heroin. It was nice knowing you, buddy." - "****ING DIE, YOU ****, DIE" - "Linares is beautiful you filthy ****ing Jew!" I thought we were friends, Erik...
Other forums use rep a lot more than we do on here, and it seems from reading the mod forum at the moment like either abuse through that is becoming more common or people are just getting sick of it and reporting it to mods more. Either way, if it becomes an issue then it can only result in people getting banned for it, and as it's not a specific forum they're posting in I'd guess it would be site bans, but I'd have to check back and see what people get for visitor message issues. Our forum is quite easy to work out who gets it though. Most of us don't use it and don't go on other forums, so if anyone has red cards instead of a little green one next to their name then someone is giving them neg rep just for the hell of it. It's a bit too easy to manipulate though, the other two mods both had neg rep and at least one of them was because someone had repeatedly neg repped them. I've got a reasonably high rep power (it's astronomical on here, but I've seen people with over 1,000 elsewhere) so one positive rep from me cleared the balance and put them back in the green. (Those little green cards in the avatar section off to the left of posts relate to your rep, they go red when you're in the negative zone).
Mine's started to come up quite a bit since I've done the Match Previews! Haha, cheers lads. I'll be doing Burnley's Preview tonight I haven't forgot...
When somebody has posted, look on the same bar where it has the "Reply" and "Reply With Quote" options at the bottom, look across and there's like a sort of Sheriff's Badge thing, click on that. I haven't noticed a Niall posting, but I shall definitely be asking when I see him, cheers Ric
I've noticed most of the oppo fans coming here are alright, looks like we are one of the biggest teams on here so they are probably jealous or have nobody to talk to on their boards
Why would anyone care about imaginary rep on an internet forum? If people respect you (or don't) you probably know who and why anyway; so **** the numbers and popularity competitions.
There are forums where they have threads just for people to rep each other in order to boost the score. Pretty much all my rep comes from one on the mod board, because people have to spread it round a lot of people before they can give rep to the same people again. Given a certain person neg repping on our forum (hello Erik) it does no harm for me to build mine for next time we need a mod appointing so our choice isn't queried due to a neg rep.
