I used to have a lot of respect for David Moyes but after this weekend, it's all gone. Any self-respecting person would fairly acknowledge that A. Young has had more then his fair share of penalties awarded in his favour. Young is a grub and couldn't lie straight in bed ..................... yet, Moyes cries poor for not getting a penalty given in this instance. Moyes, Man U have had much more than their share, get over it and acknowledge your team lost cause they were not good enough.................... next! http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/football/25571428
Was just thinking the same thing. You could argue that referees are consistently getting things wrong whenever he is near the penalty box, and that it would be better if they consistently got the decisions right, but he's only reaping what he has sown - every top flight referee in the country knows he's a cheating diver, and sooner or later this was going to happen, because he has put that doubt in referee's minds himself. Maybe now, Moyes will realise this (even in private) and deal with it. Otherwise it'll cost them even more points next time.
I can't stand Young, but that was a clear penalty, as was the one on Suarez that Webb also failed to give. Webb has had a very, very poor week. It's a good and valid point though that players who constantly dive (Young/Suarez) are not getting the decisions, even when they should. Good!!
Always been the most over-rated manager on the planet for me. looks like he's getting found out now. Takes over last years league champions and table position shows him for what he is. Keep up the good job Agent David. We love your work
Young was barely touched and dived through the air before the keeper got there, he also wasnt going to play the ball either. Wellbeck also had a major dive too. He should be thankful both didnt get yellows. You know refs have been aware of their diving if Webb who is Man Us official fan club leader is now not giving therm at OT. Thats what you get for taking the piss out of refs for diving all over the place, it still hasnt stopped so some lovely karma. Im still waiting for an obvious penalty not to be awarded.
Best tweet I saw over the New year - "David Moyes has been working for 10 years for Everton to finish higher than Man Utd. Looks like he's finally gonna do it..."
I await the Everton fans: 'Come back Agent Moyes, Mission accomplished' banner.....unless they've done one already
Moyes is 'Fergie Lite', a watered down version of the miserable Scots bastard. He's already anxiously trying to deflect attention away from his own shortcomings by having a go at the ref, a classic Fergie ploy. Trouble is, Martinez success at Everton is showing up Moyes's lack of of tactical ability and talent-spotting with Barkley under his nose for the past few years he wasted £27 million on Fellaini when he could have got Barkley for peanuts...
The irony isn't lost on me and I'm enjoying it..........but I still think it was a penalty on Young for a very high, dangerous challenge.
Was there any contact though? He was so scared that he dived out of the way. I still think it wasnt a penalty, funny how he booked that kid for diving too even though he made sure there was a little contact. It was still a dive. Man U get about 10 points every year from refs, they are in trouble if that is going to stop.
As I'm sure you know, that isn't the point. Intent is enough. That challenge would have been a foul anywhere else on the pitch and probably a red card. I hate Young and hope he never gets awarded another free kick against him..........but that was a penalty! Webb has had a terrible week.
Moyes is no Fergie. He used to intimidate referees, Moyes doesn't have the minerals to do it. Young is a renowned diver anyway and is getting his just desserts. I ****ing love it!
You really believed he intended to take him out there instead of trying to make the save? That makes no sense at all. There are different standards for goalies, its probably a pen if a defender does it but the goalie was just trying to block the shot.
Have to say it did look a bit of a reckless challenge and whilst they may be differing criteria for goalkeepers it would have been a foul anywhere else on the pitch.......still never mind these things even themselves out and there must be at least another 20 or so penalty decisions that have to be turned down against Utd just to peg back the amount they got under Fergie..... On another note did anyone else see Oscars back flip at saints in an attempt to win a penalty, it deserved an oscar, terrible piece of cheating, at least Atkinson got that one right....
Yeah, i noticed that too, cheating is so ingrained that player wants to dive instead of tucking it into the empty net. As it is now, Pen plus red card >>>> goal which is why they have to change it back to just a penalty. Id also give professional fouls outside the box as a penalty too without a card. 1 on 1 % is less than 50% while a penalty is more than 75% so that would mean the attacking teams gains a huge advantage without ruining the game.
How about a ref giving a penalty but also booking the player for diving? The Suarez example was a good one - he was fouled and therefore it was technically a penalty, but he made such a ridiculous meal of it that he deserved to be booked for simulation.
I'm bowing out of this one now, as I know you're like a dog with a bone and won't let it go. Suffice to say that you're making no sense whatsoever. The keeper makes no contact with the ball and would have decapitated Young (if only!!) if he hadn't jumped out of the way. A red anywhere else on the pitch. Your dislike of Utd and Young are clouding your judgement if you really believe that was a fair challenge.
So what youre saying is that its acceptable to dive if a player thinks he might be touched and a penalty should be given? If so, there would be a penalty every time a player gets in the box. Keepers have different rules, look how many times a keeper misses a punch and then follows through and clocks a forward, a penalty is never given but it certainly would be if it was done by an outfield player.
I doubt that Lloris intended to foul him, however (as with all 'late' challenges) a lack of intent isn't always taken into account. As I see it, if you intend to break an opponents leg and miss, you should still get at least a caution, because your intent and the way you are playing needs addressing. If you don't intend to break an opponent's leg but mistime a tackle so badly that you do, then the same rules apply. You might get away with a yellow, but will almost certainly take a walk. And can't complain if you do. The ref has a call to make with every challenge on the pitch, and their job is made infinitely harder by players who continually pretend to be half-decapitated when they were barely touched (if at all). Yes, this challenge was almost certainly a penalty. And in that case, it was also a professional foul and Lloris should have been sent off. However, Young has been so willing to dive in the past, he has built up a reputation that referees are taking into account whenever he falls in the box. If penalties that Young should be awarded are not given because the ref thinks he's faking again, he only has himself to blame.
