It is because the nation is becoming so brain dead that those in charge think they have to tell us everything in case we hurt ourselves. It comes from being drip fed sh*t newspapers with stupid headlines, cr*p TV and this is where we have finished up. It didn't take many years did it?

Ok there's no need to be pedantic about it and you've missed the point entirely in your "rantette" It's personal opinion YOU might think it's too much and unnecessary and for ME it's unnecessary (being as weather charts etc are my hobby) but there probably are people out there that DO need to be told and merely discussing this raises people's awareness. In the field of science there is no such thing as too much information all further information does is to further support your hypothesis. It's not like it's advertised all over the TV every 5 mins 1984 stylee if you don't like it, don't look?
Have to admit Rich, when you tell kids things at school about what is required for exams etc, then the more information and times it is told them, the better.
They don't listen then mate, i've seen students brought out for texting in an exam for example. It's hilarious there's a tray and they're supposed to all hand their phones in and I then have a look out of curiosity not at the individual phones but just makes/models and there's usually 10-20 iphones, a few blackberrys and a handful of android handsets amazing how much these kids get.
I fully agree with you Yarco but as long as Joe Public accepts it instead of telling all the nosey parker interfering do gooders to piss off and mind their own business it will only get worse. I drink too much alcohol although I never get drunk. I know it and accept that it is not doing me any good BUT I enjoy it and I have made a decision that I am not going to change my lifestyle. I am a 68 year old sane adult - what right has some snotty nosed kid just out of nappies got to try and convince me I am wrong to make that decision or, worse still, write and send numerous documents to our political masters telling them to either ban my pleasure or price me out of buying it and change my lifestyle that way. I don't smoke but others do. It is their decision. They know that they will likely get lung cancer but if the pleasure is worth the pain it has to be their decision. After all the amount of tax they will pay getting lung cancer will pay for their treatment tenfold!! As soon as a problem arises because of addiction or health problems out come the do gooders - ban it! Smoking - ban it. Alcohol - ban it. Takeaways - ban it. Gambling - ban it. Sun bathing - ban it As I was driving to golf this morning they were talking on Radio Norfolk about 2 people who had drowned at a local beauty spot after ignoring ' do not swim ' signs. Very very sad but immediately out of the woodwork they came - the Public should be banned from the area or the water should be fenced to stop people getting in. FFS!! What next? Ban entry to all beaches? Fence off every river bank? Ban river or sea travel in case someone falls in and drowns? People take risks and accidents occur. Very sad but a fact of life. In my day it was called personal decision making but before long that skill will no longer be required as at the rate we are going as soon as you pop out of the womb you will be given, by some interfering nosey parker do gooder, a list of things you can and cannot do as you grow up.
The problem is not with providing the information, it's the idea that we then need to be told how or how not to act on it. Information is useful to people who have a decision to make. Making the decision for them renders the information superfluous.

Perfectly true max, but it has never been any different. The only difference is a vast expansion in the number of people who, lacking common sense, think they can provide a substitute. Realising that you lack common sense requires more common sense than those who lack it have!
