Holly Garshong was one of 10 finalist who put themselves up to the public vote hoping to make it to Germany. Almost 15,000 votes were cast with Holly, from Barnes, Sunderland, gaining the most –18 per cent. She will now head off to Braunlage with fellow winner Thomas Chrusciel to be the first Britons to represent the UK at the event on February 15. The 29-year-old, whose parents were nudists, said: “I’m over the moon and so grateful to everyone who voted for me and asked their friends to vote. “It’s amazing how much people supported me and I promise to do my best and not let them down.” The winner is the first naked sledger to cross the finish line, with male and female champions earning themselves a 1,000 Euro prize. Competitors will be allowed to wear pants, boots and a helmet, to keep them safe on the 89-metre course. It is the first time the UK has entered a team to the competition, now in its fifth year. Mike Chidzey, spokesman for Chillisauce.co.uk, who is sponsoring the UK team said: The public have spoken and we now have our two representatives - a firefighter and a soldier. What more could we ask for? The championship itself has come around very quickly and the 15th February will be upon us in absolutely no time, but we have every faith that our team can bring home gold and look great doing it!”
