Haha, that's excellent RBF. I knew our prayers wouldn't go unheard. Just need to get Him the coordinates for Carrow Road now....
Well we have been saying so for long enough, Warky, never hurts to have a bit of serious confirmation though.
Quick question, what is snettisham beach like? was thinking of going there on Sunday to give the dog a run (no puns about Rich, please), whats the parking like and is a rip off like sunny hunny? then probably going to Kings Lynn after.
Sorry for the tardy reply Dave but Snettisham is a haven, a wilderness where you can virtually be on your own at times in acres and acres of natural beauty. It was badly damaged in the storms and the circular walk is still not passable cuttently and you cannot cross the lagoons either as the fragile path was literally blown away. It is still worth a run with your dog though, similarly across The Wash there is another area of natural beauty (although less rugged) and that is Gibraltar Point which is found via a spur which runs from the centre of Skegness 3 miles South. That is the negative in that you cannot reach it without entering the centre of Skegness but it is certainly worth it.
I went to snettisham on sunday, can't say i was too impressed, lovely and quiet but the tide was out which spoilt it so doubt i will be going again, I probably just hit it at the wrong time. I will probably stick with going to Hemsby/Winterton or Holkham beach. Must say we went to Kings Lynn after, and I was quite impressed with it, good selection of shops, had lunch on the quay. really quite nice.
Hi Guru, I take your point and if the tide is out it is a sea of mud and a strange aspect, it is an acquired taste I guess. As you suggest though, when the tide starts to come in it becomes a wonderful spot for a bit of birding as the waders become squashed into the corner with the rising tide. The marsh at the end of the lagoons is a great place to catch barn owls on a winter's afternoon. if that is your thing of course.
