    How do you rate it ?, if it sounds good then it is good. Personally I quite like Peavey amps, they are built reasonably well and the ones with the original black widow speakers are very nice to play through.

    ...'black widow speakers' - how do I know if it's got them? Are they marked as such, or is it their appearance?

    There is a good chance that you may have a BW speaker in your amp as peavey were sticking them in everything in the 80,s,. It should be labelled, but if the label has come/been pulled off then look at the speaker frame, if it has eight legs/supports then it prob is a BW, if not it could be a Scorpion which Peavey used a lot. It could also just have a generic speaker.
