You can't polish a turd. Their squad is poor with exceptions of Mata, Rooney and RVP. A poisoned chalice.
Depends on where expectations are. If you want to get them back in the top four, then yes, they look short of that. But there is a chance for a new man to mould a team (which can happen quickly, as Rodgers has shown) around De Gea, Rafael, Jones, Fletcher (for a couple of years), Januzaj, Rooney and Mata (if he stays). (I expect RVP will be gone.)
http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/new-manchester-united-boss-contenders-3438458 No mention of Bruce at all. Quite disappointing to see all his good work go unnoticed!
The problem with that list is their clubs are going to be in the CL, so it would have to be someone who wanted money or a challenge & guarenteed at least 2 years to build them. As for Bruce, he's done a great job here but comparing him to Martinez is like comparing Alex Bruce to Pele. Martinez went from a team relegated with no expectations than to carry on getting Everton to as high a position as possible. If Bruce were to go to Utd, he would be expected to get them in the CL with a title challenge thrown in. If Bruce were to step up to the next level it would have to be at a team similar to Everton, so I think Newcastle would fit that criteria. Having said that, with Ashley in charge it's not a glory position. So I don't see him leaving anytime soon.
Just listening to Five live, one of the reporters from a Manchester paper who was one of the journalists to break the SAF story that he was retiring, says Moyes going is not speculation but nailed on certainty, and he will be gone before next weekend.
Sounds like he's toast. They'll go for a more fashionable manager, probably from abroad, like Klopp or Simeone or someone. I'm surprised, if it is true, that they've dismissed him so soon. He was ****, yes, but I was only discussing with my brother at weekend how surely he'd have been given the summer to bring a few players in and judged more next year. Shows, again, how I know nowt.
I don't think Simeone would be that ****ing stupid to take this job considering the current position of Atletico. Klopp might go, he seems to have taken Dortmund as far as he can, though he still has a German Cup final to think about for Dortmund.
I think this is what part of the problem is, they don't have confidence he can either target or attract the right players in the closed season. He paid a fortune for Fellini, who is not a top player.
Seems that way. Like most people, I'd always rated him at Everton, and though I wasn't sure he'd be a roaring success at United, I really didn't think he'd look this clueless. Maybe he's just been thoroughly found out?
He has made some poor decisions, such as not playing the same starting 11 in any off his games, but I have to feel sorry for Moyes. The odd game on TV or MOTD I've seen showed that he has been massively let down by his team. Added to this he inherited a squad on its way out and no transfer budget. If a new manager is brought in and given a £150m budget then does well Moyes will look even worse. Reminds me a bit of Barmby. Saying all that he will probably get a payoff that would make a banker jealous!
I'm loving it, because I'd been saying for years he wasn't up to much. He had Everton playing awful football in my view. Had a few discussions with people when he was selected by Fergy, my view was he'd be viewed as credible but would fail, and he was picked to make Fergies achievements look better.
Reckon there'll have been a clause where they can sack him without as much payoff if they don't get top 4. Yesterdays result meant that its mathematically impossible which is probably why it's now coming to light.
