Just said that he's only ever watched eight films in his life! Is it just me who thinks that it confirms he's odd?

I've watched very few films myself.

Probably watched three or four in the last 5 years.

and when he released his book, at the press conference he was asked what was his favourite book. His reply was that he had never read a book in his life. He is possibly the dullest man that ever lived. (with the obvious exception of Bum Chinned Crab)

"Just said" is pushing it a bit, unless he's said it again.

Yeah but eight? He's thirty odd! You must have least done the pictures thing with the birds when you was younger? My kids love films! Even in the age of computers and phones we still make a big deal of a good film and popcorn!

I use to watch films as a kid and all that. I've been to cinemas with lasses.

I'm just not one of these people who can sit on the sofa for two hours and watch a film.

Don't do this, kids. It makes for a **** date. Take her bowling instead and tell her you'll show her which fingers go in which holes.

Also, yes - Owen is the most boring man ever to have walked the Earth.

    How would he know?

Has he been cataloguing them since birth?

Perhaps if he provided a brief synopsis of each film I'd be more convinced.

This is a man who is capable of producing a glossy brochure highlighting his achievements to hawk around potential employees, so he should be able to do a spot of film reviewing.

All it would take would be a short outline.

    For example Michael.

Bedknobs and Broomsticks : Saw this at the Odeon in Chester with me Dad. I had popcorn and he had spicy nachos.

It was good because there's a football match in it but bad because some of the actors looked a bit cartoony to me.

I rate this film 5th out of the 8 filums I've seen.

OK Micky Boy. Over to you.

    Some great films in there.

If you can watch those and not be tempted to start watching films more regularly, then you're either braindead, boring or both. I'll go for both in Mickey Boy's case.

Plenty of people take pride in saying they have 'never read a book' I find that a bit odder to be honest, taking pride in not trying to expand your mind ( fair enough if they have dyslexia or something similar)

I don't watch an incredible amount of films, but to get to that fella's age and only watch 8 is odd.

I doubt it's even true. He's just trying to make some point or other about having other hobbies, I reckon.

Is he counting pornographic films? If so, he really hasn't lived.

Hey so what? :) He's a man who likes what he likes, if he's not interested in watching movies then thats just him. He does what everyone should do and thats to do what makes you happy, not what everyone else expects you to do.

Films I usually watch on tv when I can be bothered the last cinema film I saw was Tinker Taylor Soldier Spy, not a patch on the Alec Guiness version, but I average one book a week either paperback or Kindle. At the moment its The Secrects Of Station X an inside story of the story of the efforts to decode the wartime German Enigma Codes at Bletchley Park, a facinating read so far and not only because of Alan Turing's brilliance. For me this is a great read as I visited Bletchley Park last year and saw a lot of the stuff talked about in the book I hope to visit again at some point.

Well, according to his 'Wiki' there has only been one girl in his life and that is his wife who he met at primary school. They have 4 children, 3 girls and a boy, and have a huge mansion and grounds where he has his collection of cars and she has a string of horses. He owns racehorses himself and is known to have a 'flutter' every now and then. He was over here in Oz a couple of years ago with his horse, Brown Panther (I think) which ran in the World Famous Melbourne Cup.
He has always been interested in playing a major roll with his Dad's team, Chester (where he was born) but Chester went out of business before anything eventuated - whether he could have done something to save the club I don't know.
Had a reputation late in his career of being 'up himself' but he bought an entire Street in Liverpool for all his rello's so can't be such a bad bloke and seems very happy with his wife, kids, mansion, horses and private helipad and he's training for his pilot's license.
So he's only seen 8 films and doesn't read books. He's done all right for himself and was pretty formidable in his prime.

Books and films are a huge part of our culture. References to them litter our conversation everyday, whether it's a quote from a Dickens novel or a line from a Michael Caine film.

I could understand if he was an avid reader but disliked films, or vice versa.

    This is strange.
