Just been reported by BBC that Liverpool have approached Wigan.

To be fair it is kind of new news, they've actually made a formal offer. Up until now it was just discussions or whatever.

Nah, Whelan said the first call came direct to him about a week ago (wasnt it?) and he told Martinez who was in the office with him at the time. That's an official approach.

Edit - aaaaah, he means they've made a formal offer to Martinez which is breaking news. That's different, but it's not an approach - that was done yonks ago.

 

Saw Whelan getting interviewed, he said they have offered the job to Martinez but there are conditions, he has till Tuesday to make up his mind. Whelan said Roberto is in full control of team affairs at Wigan, that may not be the case at Liverpool. Thats what they are haggling over.
