The second greatest Prime Minister in our history has died today. Whatever your political views she was an extraordinary person. RIP http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-22067155
Truely like marmite, there will be some horrible headlines from both sides of the political spectrum I'd imagine. Good leader, did some good things for the country but also some terrible things, capitalism without a conscience, part of the problem why we're in the mess we are in now IMO, like you say though an extraordinary person!!
I agree PTC there will never be another courageous leader like her and the political pygmies that we have running the country today aren't fit to tie her shoe laces!
I actually would like to request for this thread to be closed. It will only a) make me sick with rage, b) descend into slanging and we are unlikely to learn anything. Cheers.
JWM, funnily enough I didn't really like her and I can understand why people really hated her but she certainly had leadership qualities and made some good decisions but she also made some decisions which were terrible for the country which IMO led to the problems we are having atm!! Love her or loathe her, though I don't think it's right to revel in her death!!
Well Warky it's actually a football forum. I wouldn't post on here a thread about how I'm going for a celebratory lunch in York now. I know what you think, you know what I think. if you want a dirty thread about it that says more about you than it does me.
There's no doubt this will get out of hand but if you're that concerned Hamps why don't you just ignore it or go with the flow!!
I'm keeping an eye on it as there may be a few (tractor boys) that would like to post an opinion on this news, plus I wouldn't want to rule with too much of an iron fist..... Plus, I'm sure this thread will fizzle out eventually As for my views, I'm probably too young but she is certainly a person I have a lot of respect for. Not an awful lot of love or complete support but certainly respect.
Suffolk has always been rock solid Tory for all the years that I can remember from at least 1970 and even during the Thatcher years even the majority of the electorate in Ipswich voted for her. I'm nhot saying that people should love her but surely rightly or wrongly she is a unique political figure that deserves respect for standing by her principles! Not one of the current lot seems to have any after all!
The closure of the mines put some of my family members through hell. That and poll tax. ****ing awful decisions. She was driven though, maybe not for all the right reasons but she was certainly a character.
She was my local MP in Finchley when I was younger. I didn't vote for her,or anybody else for that matter.
Actually..Scargill and the miners have themselves to blame, totally outpriced themselves out of work. Their demands were extortionate!!
