Does anyone know what's going on with this game - a Wembley final and it doesn't seem to be on the telly anywhere? Even the Johnson's Paint Trophy made one of the channels. Apparently it's the only professional football league game in the country today - and nothing?!? Very disappointing. What's everyone's views of game? Who do you want to go up? Despite the old rivalry with York, I find myself wanting them to go up. Don't know why - just never really liked Luton. Not a good start for them though... 1-0 to Luton after 2 minutes...
Ahh, I never knew that was where the conference rights had gone to! Makes sense now - I thought it was strange it wasn't making any of the others - especially as all the cameras would still have been in place from yesterday.
Bit of a thing about York, I was on the front page of their local rag in 1967, along with my mate Richard, when went so see City. We were walking near the train station when this bloke with a camera asked us to pose, jump in the air, whatever, and there we were, on the front page of the 1st edition. After the match, which we won, we were on the back page but still have the pics, and the paper, faded though, bit like me
Should be compulsory viewing for any City fans this game. It could so easily have been us trying to reach the Conf playoffs not that long ago, and in fact, without the Allam's recent cash injection, even that would have been a pipe dream. Before any of the haters start, I'm old and remember much much worse times than we're currently experiencing, which tbh, aren't even close to being bad. I also remember taking me dad on his first trip to the KC, the game was us Vs Luton. Luton were at that time, run away league leaders, and we expected a humping. We beat them 4-0. Was a bloody marvelous day out! Point is, we used to play both of these teams and certainly Luton always used to outshine us, so seeing them both playing for a chance to go to the proper leagues feels quite humbling.
Interesting, because the same thing could be said for York. When we were in the same league as both of these clubs, we were broadly on a par with both - yet as we lined up vs. Chelsea to start our second premier league season, both were lining up in the conference.
They beat us to the League 1 title but to be fair we did seem to do well against them, they're not a hoodoo team a la Burnley! The 3-0 win at the KC with Elliott scoring from about 30 yards out and our two wins at their place while we were both in the Championship stick out in particular.
