A little off topic but just thought I'd open a thread on the 10 match band that has just been handed to the buck toothed (and Rat faced) liverpool forward..

I must admit that the FA need to be setting out a clear marker and have perhaps used this as a precedent for any further incidents.. But then a couple of years ago Defoe did something similar and no action was taken..

My main reason for confusion is the fact that he has 10 games for biting someone but got 8 for being repeatedly racist... what message does this send? Does it send a message?.. I'm not too sure, the only message I gave learned is that Suarez is an absolute stain on society and should be deported...

I think the FA got this about right and Suarez must accept anger management courses to help sort out his inner demons! Biting someone is dangerous and if he broke the skin he could have passed on any kind of infection through saliva. This is far worse than the standard violent conduct in my opinion and it must be dealt with by tough punishment. I have read somewhere today that young kids are copying Suarez by biting fellow pupils in the playground!

I agree with what you say KOPR apart from your last paragraph which is harsh in the extreme!

Personally I think he should be sold by Liverpool and am disappointed that they are sticking by him yet again. It's a shame because he is a top quality striker but he has some problems. It's not the first time he's bitten somebody so it's difficult to believe that it will be the last and for that I would like to see him removed from the English game.

Suarez is a brilliant footballer and whether we like it or not his footballing talents light up what is a pretty dull Premiership! Anger management and rehabilitation is the way to go before we all rush to boot him out!

Sorry, got no time any more for a person who keeps bringing bad publicity into the English game. The attention he brings on our game is not needed and despite his brilliance it is rarely his playing feats that are discussed by fans.

Was more a tongue in cheek remark about the current difficulty we have in deporting terror suspects...

I was just trying to be topical <ok>

I don't think it's as bad as stopping Ghana from making the semi-finals of the World Cup, for which Suarez received no substantial punishment.

He should be made to make a public apology and receive a lengthy ban. In the apology he should admit to being a total twat ( wasn't sure if I could write **** ).

While i don't condone anything that has been done, I can't understand how the FA come to some of their ban lengths.

For example, If Suarez had got the hump with Ivanovic and 2 footed him, breaking his leg, he would have probably would have got at least 3 games at the most 5 games.

Yet, for a bite which has no lasting effect on Ivanovic, he gets a 10 game ban?

And what would have happened if when the ref asked him if he had bitten him, and he admitted it? probably just a 3 match ban!

    Its crazy.

I think he deserves it. It's the most ridiculous thing I've seen, he wasn't provoked there was no build up to it, he just went and bit him. I think the FA have done right for a change, it would be nice if Liverpool came out and condoned his behaviour aswell. I lost alot of respect for Liverpool, particularly Dalgleish when they defended him so vermently over the Evra saga!!! He's a great player but an absolute idiot, I don't think he'll learn though!!

But why should somebody who commits a potentially career ended challenge only get say a 5 match ban maximum?

The point that everyone seems to be missing is that Suarez got this ban for previous. He would not be getting a ban this long if he had never been in trouble. I think the FA should make it clear that if any player receives longer than a statutory ban twice then they will be banned permanently. You don't get two chances in the medical profession, why should you get unlimited chances as a footballer?

True Hampy, but the severity should also fit the punishment.

In reality what people are saying, is that he should have wait 30 seconds, 2 footed Ivanovic breaking his leg, and walked away with a smaller ban.
