It's a political one though, and not relevant on this forum, apparently. What were your intentions when you posted this article? I mentioned religion on a thread a few days ago, and I shouldn't have because it wasn't necessary.
I'm not a fan of The Smiths simply because I can't stand Morrissey or his voice. But the rest of the band especially Marr are top draw musicians. Smith songs might not include searing solos, but Johnny is so creative with arpeggiated chords. I think it's a good guide on how connected politicians to the real world by what music they like. Cameron has said he likes The Smith and The Jam and UKIP use If You Tolerate This Your Children Will Be Next which is anti fascism song.
1) It's an interview with a musician liked by many on here. They are, for me anyways, the best band ever, and Marr is the reason I started playing guitar. 2) It isn't about politics alone. It is also about music. Whenever Marr does an interview people bring up politics due to the Smiths spat with Cameron.] 3) Stop being a prat.
Excellent article - thanks for posting it. I'm reminded of Paul Weller being told that David Cameron said he used to listen to the Jam when he was at Eton "well he obviously wasn't listening to the ****ing words"...
Neither do I. The majority of the things he says are purely for shock value. He said there is "no difference between eating animals and *****philia. They are both rape, violence, murder." What kind of bellend says this sort of stuff?
I'm not being one. I pointed out that the article is about politics, and that is against the rules on here according to the mods.
They are indeed - and also designed to get a reaction. You've just proved how effective he is at it. That said, much as i like the smiths i do agree with your genral point as he is a bit of an arse.
The Smiths are as good as Morrissey is a prick, nobody disagrees with that, but you really need to learn that dickheads can be good musicians...
