Dislike him or hate him, it's hard to ignore him. Cracking interview - very funny in places... http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/queens-park-rangers/11092485/Football-philosopher-Joey-Barton-targets-managerial-career-after-football-playing-days-end.html "When I go to AA it’s quite spiritual. I’m not an atheist, I’m agnostic. I’ve talked to Glenn (Hoddle, QPR coach who believes in reincarnation) but I don’t think he was ready for the level of conversation I was. We’re still getting to know each other." “In the build-up to the Italy game at the World Cup, Rooney was under pressure with people like me saying he wasn’t world class. Rooney crossed the ball for [Daniel] Sturridge, who finished it well, and instead of running to Rooney and saying ‘what a f****** ball mate’, he runs away and does that stupid dance." [EDIT: When he says "AA" he means Alcoholics Anonymous - NOT Assem Allam!]
Well I found it funny. You seem to be confusing my view that it's a good interview with some sort of approval of Barton. Quite the opposite - the best interviews are generally with flawed people. (The best interview I've ever read by Henry Winter was one with Garry Cook of Man City, which was fascinating - and Cook was basically the devil.)
He annoys me because he so obviously wants the publicity and to be seen as intelligent. That line about Hoddle is almost Allam-like in its arrogance. He really thinks he's a genius doesn't he? Also similar to Allam is how journalists just let him talk but don't question him.
He's a 2'bob philosopher. Offers very simplistic overviews of life/society that seem credible and intelligent to the stupid majority. He's quite comedic though.
Spot on. He's a pseudo-intellectual, and he thinks he's a genius because he quotes Nietzsche. Proper twat.
Another one that made me laugh was: "I’m a snotty-nosed kid from a sinkhole estate in Liverpool and I’ve done the Oxford Union and been on the most highbrow political show in the country." Question Time?! gtf - it's the Jeremy Kyle Show of political programmes.
As a Nietzsche quoting twat I think Joey can probably take the insults. He'd probably just say 'That which does not kill us make us stronger'.
Are we talking about the Joey Barton who; stubbed a lit cigar into a young Newcastle players eye, the Joey Barton who beat up a teenage Everton fan, the Joey Barton who put a teammate in hospital after a training ground brawl, the one who got six months jailtime for assault (plus other **** I can't recall) ? A bellend ? Nah, he's just a poor specimin of humanity and a first class **** to boot, had he not been able to play football he'd have been a full time jail bird, or probably dead by now.
Your assumption that most people are stupid makes you more of a bell end, and an arrogant one, than Barton is. Any evidence, as we have seen none on here, that you are more intelligent than the majority of people?
It's very easy for the celeb guest to embarrass himself on QT. Barton when I saw him on the programme just about held his own.
I have no time for Barton. He's a grade A twat whom is so self-obsessed and egotistical, he actually makes me mad just seeing him. I don't even need to meet the ****er and I wanna smack him between his eyes...
