I seem to remember that someone had applied for planning permission to make the old cafe next to the expensive BP garage just before the Gilberdyke turn off in to an adult shop some time ago. Was that application accepted? There seemed to be people milling around yesterday when I drove back from Leeds. Don't know if they were workmen. Should be a nice welcome to visitors to the City of Culture.
Surely it's more a distraction for people leaving after visiting the City of Culture, after all it's on the wrong side of the motorway for people visiting Hull !! I would prefer a shop like that well away from major shopping areas, so why not there ? I wonder if there will be fences put up to shield the number plates of visitors ?

I have seen a similar store on the A1 southbound in the middle of nowhere south of the turn for Lincoln, always struck me as a strange place to have a shop apart from the fact that the punters probably don't want to be anywhere where they might be noticed!
Not much space for that and as it is zoned for retail there needs to be some sort of shop on site. Little Chef & the coffee shop both failed to make any money there so surely anything is better than the site becoming derelict. It would seem ideal for McDonalds or KFC however being so close to Hull, having access only from one side of the road there would be no way either of them could make money from the site either. I genuinely see no problem with an "Adult Themed" shop being on the site.
There's two on the A1 and both are always closed, suggesting they've probably gone out of business. If they can't survive on the A1 which is far busier then they don't stand a chance on the WB carriage of the A63.

Surely you mean out of the City. Add to this it is in the East Riding not Hull City Council controlled area. Ideal for all those blokes who have been for a trip to the Red Light District in Amsterdam & suddenly remember they forgot a prezzie for the Mrs
BUT can only call when leaving the City. Hull City Council could have complained to the East Riding but residential concerns tend to be the only things taken into account with adult stores (no local residential properties) & the fact the only access is from the A63 means it will be easier to ensure over 18's only
We also have a porno shop clearly visible as soon as visitors step off the train, that one next to Kathmandu. Bit surprised these shops are still lucrative, what with t'internet and all the freebie fadge on there.
