http://t.co/aIfhtSYFC3 Kingston upon Hull Athletics Club athlete Annabelle Lewis ran the third leg of the GB 4 x 100m relay team at the World Champs. She handed over in 2nd place but the 4th leg runner who came in to replace an injured athlete came in 4th against more experienced stronger athletes, however it was really close and the girls were happy with that. They are now even happier as the French team have been disqualified so get the bronze. As I posted on another thread, Annabelle has worked very hard to get where she is even giving up a full time job so she could train. Her dad Dean is a huge City fan and a very proud man right now.
Is this the lass who went to Wolfreton School? If it is then I was in the same class as her. Tremendous achievement.
Yes it is, Carr Lane then Wolfreton. Won every race since she was an U11 and was always determined to get to the top in Athletics. On TV today Denise Lewis really rated her so I am sure she this is just the start.
Wolfreton is renowned for their athletics/cross country teams and are constantly making the school national finals etc. Having ran (400m) for Wolfreton at events with Annabelle it was clear she was always going to be a fantastic sprinter. Jack Cutsforth and Matty Pye were formidable as well albeit longer distances!
