This is for those of you that are blessed with knowledge of computers. My Laptop now will not allow me to download or open any documents that I want to look at. It keeps saving that they contain a virus and have been deleted but they have not either a virus or have been deleted. Anyone heard of this and if so what could I do to correct this issue. Thanks in advance

You need to do the following:

    1. Switch it off.

    2. Switch it back on again.

    Works every time. <ok>

When you get this problem again press PrtSc on your keyboard to take a picture of the screen. Somewhere on the top right it'll be.

Go to paint and paste the picture in. Upload the picture and we'll be able to understand better.

Hand Tip press alt and print screen to just take a snapshot of the error message rather than your whole desktop...

sounds like either overprotective antivirus... or a virus.

If it's a new computer, you could just use a restore point to go back to an earlier setting. It could have come from any number of things; I once got a virus watching a Metallica video on Youtube.

If not, hold F8 when you start up your computer and you can view a list of programs that boot up when your computer starts. If one of them looks dodgy (usually a load of letters and numbers or jargon words) then disable it, start your computer in safe mode and see if that works.

    OR

Press start type msconfig hit Startup Tab.... get rid of anything dodgy... only alow to boot what is absolutely necessary... Microsoft word, adobe update google... any of that crap... not necessary.

Try ctrl alt delete first, then OLM's suggestion, then hurl it at the nearest wall

It makes me laugh that people think that in addition to the above, unplugging every piece of hardware you own and plugging it all back in again should somehow fix a problem.

Your a disgrace just admit it. To us not the mrs obviously. Then get to PC World, not with the lap top obviously thats how Gary Glitter got done, and buy Norton security.

    I bet it was bukkake

    Yep, that one works too.

And on a piano, the black notes are louder than the white ones.

you could just turn your firewall off, or click on allow.

but IF it does have a virus on it that locks up your computer... here is what you do

hold down the power button to turn it off.
    then turn it on.
TAP F8 quickly... this should bring up a screen and you can select REPAIR WINDOWS using the up/down arrows keys..
(anyone can do this if they get a virus on their computer (providing you have win7 or better) it will save you taking the comp into PC World)
