8/6/12 Assem Allam appoints Steve Bruce manager of Hull City. Promotion in his first season. Finishes 16th in his second season. Reaches our first ever FA Cup Final and takes us into Europe. What a choice by Allam and what a miracle they have worked between them. Well done Steve long may it continue.
I dunno why i put O/T for this thread As a laugh i may dig out the threads when certain people were commenting on how **** he was and we dont want him here!!
You do realise Allam will never have heard of Steve Bruce ? He took advice, that's very obvious. Who from i don't know, but well done whoever
I was one of those. I'm pleased to say he proved me wrong. Except about the constant injury crisis his teams always seem to suffer.
The day he was given the job I said he would get us promoted the coming season having done it at Birmingham and Wigan. Thought sacking NB and replacing him with SB was a stroke of genius. For once I was right
Not to bothered whose idea it was Mr Kempton just pleased we got him Chances are someone told AA and AA approved it ??
It was Pete Chapman who suggested him, AA had never heard of him, but he has certainly backed him since he arrived.
For once i actually was right and wanted him here so please dig the threads up! Great manager, two great years. I don't care if AA took advice from elsewhere it was still his decision surely it shows when to listen to other people, signs of a good business man.
No doubt in a year or two many on here will be rubbishing his efforts, questioning his tactics, signings, dress sense, loyalty and so on.
Are we congratulating Bruce here or just using his anniversary as an excuse to praise Allam? But no it's not all about him is it. That's Pearson
---------- Always liked Peter Taylor was sad when he left. Always liked Nigel Pearson, was peed off when he left. Phil Brown I never got to see his team apart from Last 4 premier league games under Dowie The games I did manage to see with PB in charge on tv we looked crap..didn't see many . Even if we go down I wouldn't want Steve Bruce out
I will be high up the list with the fat dinner lady remarks, I was still pissed off with the Nick situation and anyone would have had a job making me happy at the time, though I don't think any manager could have got everyone onside any quicker.
Its an interesting point though, why were people so negative about Bruce and his media persona. Has he changed since starting with us. It isnt an act but everything he does and says has captured the feeling of that moment as if it were scripted. His honesty, charm sense of humour, he's got us all eating out of the palm of his hand.
