Performing alongside Burton will be one of the world's finest guitar players, Albert Lee, who has worked with artists including Eric Clapton, Dolly Parton, the Everly Brothers and Emmylou Harris. P.S. - The Fail doesn't seem to have heard of The Hot Band!!
I made the effort to see one of my heroes the legendary James Burton when he was touring with the Elvis tour in Sheffield this year - he lived up to all of my expectations and at the age of circa 75 is an absolute star. I'd recommend going just to see him. Albert Lee is a bonus but nowhere lives up to the legendary status of James Burton. With reference to OLM's ost - The Icicle Works were an iconic band who I saw many times in the late 80's and early 90's - Ian McNabb is one the great songwriters and performers of his generation. Go & see!
Excellant news. Will be there ahead of my trip to North Ferriby on Monday 16th. Actually its a busy week from the 14th July now. Also, Steve Harley of Cockney Rebel fame is playing up here later in the year. Pocklington in December. Another great go and see act. (nb. tuesday 11th december @ pocklington arts centre)
I have to hold up my hands here, and in shame in a way as these names are alien to me despite their first class pedigree. The last 3 guitarist of such quality I saw was at the City Hall and were Stan Webb (Chicken Shack) John Mayall, (John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers) and Mick Taylor (ex Rolling Stone) and night I will savor, and I got all their autographs. But these guys, Burton & Lee certainly seem to deserve some consideration. Thanks for the info.
I was never a big Cockney Rebel fan but went to see Steve in Hull a few years ago, it was a pleasant suprise, I really enjoyed his set and he and his band chatted afterwards, he is a really nice guy and you will be in for a good nights entertainment.
....and from the streets of Hull comes the news that Roland Gift has been/is working on a project with Jools Holland....
