Can't believe what's happened in Glasgow today - I was two streets away with my son when this happened. We were headed to George Square where the incident happened, when we found a small mexican cantina and had lunch. Thankfully, we missed it. Last year it was the helicopter crash at Clutha Vaults - I had tickets to see the band that was playing that night and couldn't make it. Devastating for the people involved - saying at least 6 dead and several severely injured. Thoughts out to all who were there.
Dreadful thing to happen....reports saying driver had a heart attack..... Thoughts with all those involved....
Terrible tragedy, really the type of thing you just don't expect. My heart goes out to all involved. I feel for the driver who is in hospital, if that was the result of a heart attack he will be devastated at the consequences...
So very tragic and sadly compounded by the time of the year in which this has occurred. You must thankfully have a guardian angel looking out for you monkey. Condolences to all those involved or affected by this.
Why do these awful things always happen just before Christmas? My thoughts are with all caught up in this tragic incident
It's all over the news Swords - dreadful. Bin lorry driver had a heart attack (they think....still awaiting results) as he was driving along George Square - centre of Glasgow, has Christmas fair, outdoor ice-rink, lights, tree etc - ploughed off road and into pedestrians, carried on going until he smashed into hotel next to Queen Street station. Place full of families doing Christmas shopping and seeing lights/tree/fair - apparently was like something out of Grand Theft Auto, pedestrians trying to jump out of the way. Lorry just smashed straight through them all really sad
Horrible news, what a tragic event. RIP to those who lost their lives - and I hope the injured pull through.
Sorry mate. Dozy reply on my part. Thankfully you and your boy weren't involved. Its horrific for the families involved especially near Christmas.
No probs pal, I was a bit vague in my OP, but was bit shocked by what had happened. Wife just in from shift (she's a nurse) and am hearing some horrific stories.....
That's one job I wouldnae do. Those gals should be paid a lot more than they are. Similar incident happened in Dublin a few years ago. Bus mounted a pavement and killed five or six people I think. Can't remember why that one happened. Driver's having heart attacks probably happens a good bit. A big Spar truck pulled into a car park a few weeks ago as I was coming out of the shop. Next thing the bloke staggers from the cab and collapses on the ground. Ambulance arrived and took him away but he died. Luckily for everyone else the poor bloke managed to navigate his lorry to a stop before he keeled over. Unfortunately the guy in Glasgow didn't have a chance to do the same.
I hear that an older couple with their granddaughter were three of the six killed. Very sad for all family members affected.
