Now, I'm fully aware that not many people on here care about american baseball, or for that matter, Steve Perry, the lead singer for Journey (never was a Journey fan myself). Evidently, Perry had stopped singing and performing and found himself a little lost. All that has changed with the success of the San Francisco Giants, who last night advanced to the World Series with a very dramatic victory. Each playoff game, at the bottom of the 8th inning, Perry leads the 47,000 faithful on a crazy ass sing along where he goes nuts. It's fun as hell, and I'm not certain I've ever seen anyone have so much enthusiasm. It's sort of grabbed nat'l attention, and now it seems everyone is rooting for the Giants. It brings a smile to my face, hope you enjoy.
This might be better. Was out late last night.
Jozy..outlaw has been with us a long time.. A top lad, love him.. But nee idea what he is on about.. Steve Perry?
Just so far from British culture that you may as well have started talking about Raindeer farming while drinking Mezzo mix and eating frogs legs in Chinese mate. I will admit I have a soft spot for the song due to its appearance as the final song in the Sopranos.
Disco, that was sort of the point tho. Fun to share some stuff that is different from what is familiar to you...I thought!
Problem is most of us choose not to be familiar with both baseball and Journey mate! Sure some will have more of an interest mind.
Ha, I don't like Journey either. Baseball is ****ing awesome. The remaining members of the Grateful Dead also sang the national anthem tho. That was cool. Tony Bennett sang "I Left My Heart in San Francisco". That was cool too. Big ****ing party out here!
I can kind of see the appeal to Basketball and American Football, though they just aren't for me. Baseball, I place alongside tennis, golf and cricket as eye-wateringly boring!
Baseball is brilliant, all about the details. Very much a part of our culture and history (we do have a little of both). Quickly being replaced here by this foreign game where you kick this ball around a big pitch.
o/t music thread and baseball - only tune I can think of
Got a lot of history and culture mate. Not a moment too soon! It's the world's sport and as a country with the standing of the US it's a disgrace they've had no success yet. That will change before too long. Although I'm always impressed that a US team wins the World Series. That's got to be the craziest winning streak ever...
