Not one jot shown to politicians. Lest we forget.
Nice post BC. Never thought Waltzing Matilda could be a song deemed poignant but seeing the pics of the soldiers killed made it so. Enjoyed the Terry Kelly one as well.
My daughter is at a memorial day parade in the region tomorrow representing the scouts but the fact that security will most likely be heightened at her event and all over the country totally pisses me off. We must be mad in this country putting up with these nutters.
You are a ****ing good lad Billy.. Nice to know, that you remembered the last video, booze and glory, it's a ****ing topper. The men and women who went before us set the benchmark...each and every one of them true hero's. All these cut backs..etc..pc ****e... We are what we are, a once truly great nation..being put down by our own, at every chance.. God bless them all...the true unsung hero's.
The Booze & Glory one nails it for me, in modern war that is. 'The boy that went away, never returned.' Sums it up for me, you might come back, but you're not the same man. Sorry lads.
Well we've both seen some ****, remember '88? I gave my GSM's to my daughter, yet my dads I treasure. Those lads that were in 1 & 2 will have seen far worse than I did. God bless you Comm, think a lot of you lad.
Yes mate, i remember it well to this day...a strange year..a ****ing blood thirsty one at that.. Just like every year, tommora, i will sit down for a few minutes by mesell, probably with the last post playing in the background. and reflect, and also be thankfull to those who went before..
If you haven't seen it already, watch the film 'Oh what a lovely war' This is such a powerful film. Also the final part of Blackadder goes forth.
Great post Billy......what do you make of that twats letter about not wearing a poppy on his shirt.......maybe someone should have told him he could have been speaking with a German accent today if it wasn't for all those who gave their lives........beyond comprehension
If you mean that Irish **** McClean, I hope Wigan make him wear an orange shirt. I detest the bastard tbh.
James McClean, who plays for Wigan Athletic, opted out of wearing a shirt with a poppy embroidered on it during the defeat to Bolton on Friday. The 25-year-old made a similar decision when he played with Sunderland and wrote an open letter to Wigan chairman Dave Whelan explaining his reasons. The Republic of Ireland international said: "I have complete respect for those who fought and died in both World Wars - many I know were Irish-born. I have been told that your own Grandfather Paddy Whelan, from Tipperary, was one of those. "I mourn their deaths like every other decent person and if the Poppy was a symbol only for the lost souls of World War I and II I would wear one. "I want to make that 100% clear .You must understand this. But the Poppy is used to remember victims of other conflicts since 1945 and this is where the problem starts for me. "For people from the North of Ireland such as myself, and specifically those in Derry, scene of the 1972 Bloody Sunday massacre, the poppy has come to mean something very different." McClean said it was a "gesture of disrespect" to his people. He added: "I am not a war monger, or anti-British, or a terrorist or any of the accusations levelled at me in the past. I am a peaceful guy, I believe everyone should live side by side, whatever their religious or political beliefs which I respect and ask for people to respect mine in return. "I know you may not agree with my feelings but I hope very much that you understand my reasons."
That's the lad.....didn't the owner there serve in the forces? It just beggars belief....and an insult to everyone who has served and put their life on the line...****ing disgrace.
