If you like a bit of Ska or Reggae music I am in Newcastle tomorrow night with legendary ska band The Selecter (www.theselecter.net). Were doing the Academy in Newcastle. I will be on the sound desk so if you come along make sure you come and say hello.

They are a really great band, superb musicians, they are getting rave reviews where ever we go.

The Selecter are most famous for the debut album "too much pressure" and hit single "On my radio"

I thought this might interest some of the musos on the board.

I have worked for Reel Big Fish and Less Than Jake in the past. Both great bands but seriously if you like them The Selecter will blow you away they are THE BEST of that genre by quite a distance, trust me.

The Selecter were the same era. They came up with The Specials (or Coventry Automatic as they were originally called)

I do the sound for Buster and Bad Manners occasionally, they are a lot of fun. I did the first rehearsal The Specials did before their comeback about 5 years ago, you could cut the atmosphere with a knife, they are all really nice guys though.

If you like all that stuff Billy you would love The Selecter, I have worked with all those bands (apart from Madness) and The Selecter are the best in my opinion.

Vegas, is Buster still alive? Thought the lad had died but not certain.
Although The Clash, Jam & Sham69 are my favourite bands, I try not to close my mind off to music, apart from pop that is.

I have a very varied taste, one of my favourite singer/songwriters is Joan Armatrading.

Buster is still alive, he probably should not be looking at him but he is. He still puts on a great show but you have to get 8 pints of ale down him before he will go on stage.

It is Terry Hall in The Specials, I have DJ'd with him a few times, he is a lovely bloke.

I have worked with Sham69 they are well lets say "interesting" I also did a show with Bruce Foxton from the Jam last year and he seemed like a nice guy too.

You generally find all these guys that have been doing it for years are superb to work with, no bullshit they know the score and get on with it, there aint much they have not seen.

Again I was never a massive Selecter fan myself but live they are head and shoulders above anyone else in their genre, the band are just superb, Pauline and Gaps still look like they are about 25 and bounce round the stage like they are back in their hayday.
