A DEDICATED team of police officers has been set up to deal with a spike in domestic violence during the World Cup.

Calls to police traditionally rise during the football tournament, particularly when England have played.

Analysis by Humberside Police showed calls in Hull doubled following England matches in the 2010 competition.

Hospitals in the area have been warned to expect an increase and charities have drafted in extra staff to help victims.

Detective Chief Inspector Kay Durrant said: "During the World Cup, we do tend to see an increase in the number of calls made to police, reporting incidents of domestic violence. These are often when England has played, and alcohol is involved.

"Police will attend, speak to the people involved and often arrests are made. However, once the dust has settled, people tend to retract their complaint and no longer want to co-operate with police.

"I want people to not feel scared and, please think about the impact of domestic violence on yourself, and your family. It is important that these people are brought to justice.

I trust you've all put in place safeguards to protect your missus from the good slapping you'd inevitably give her when England lose.

I've personally packed our lass off to a safe house in the Scottish Highlands.

There's a meeting taking place in Parliament at this very moment, for the launch of Football United against Domestic Violence.

I don't know about giving the wife a beating but I know that I want to give someone/something/anything a good kicking after watching England play football.

If someone's gonna twat their wife/husband, wouldn't they do it anyway? They're obviously that type.

Doubt the football makes much difference.

    Do some proper Police work!

What pisses me off is how the bar staff keep serving them. T'other week in pub and you could see trouble brewing with a gang of young lads, bar staff kept serving them Jager bombs and pints and you could see how it was going to go. Knocked into a bloke who took offence. Luckily one of the lads dad's came in gave him a bollcking and sent him home. Round town and it would have been all in.

It is all the landlords fault. Was speaking to a landlord in Sunderland, yes Sunderland, who bragged about it. Making money on these high octane drinks. We where asked to leave after we told him he was was an irresponsible twat who should have his licence revoked.

It isn't plods fault that the chav mentality of getting pissed up on Yuri Geller and knocking f**k out of your other half leads to more calls for service.

Just can't see how they can take the flak for this one.

Blame the sub human scum who think it's alright to misbehave after a few shandies.

Spot on, just don't understand how people can criticise the police for this.

They've identified a potential rise in domestic violence and are preparing for it, isn't that what their paid for?

    What's worse about domestic violence?

No different to any other violence.

We live in a world of equality, do we not?

Who said anything about it being worse?

Domestic violence isn't gender specific either.

In the case of women, here's a set of guidelines they can follow, and if they do not breach them, I feel they should be safe from being a victim. Maybe the police and/or charities could have them published and distributed and nip any potential cases in the bud.

Sepp Blatter just said "Ladies, girls and women shall have same access to game as men."

He differentiates between ladies and women?

Did he mean ladies and slags?
