I used to play this going right back to the championship manager days on me amiga. Loved it.

But it's so in depth now that I struggle to understand how people can play this and also maintain a normal, functional life.

    Choose life.

Fair play fella, if you enjoy it then go for it. I was getting so involved micro managing everything that I had to give it up.

Can't be doing those '****, it's four in the morning.....go then, just one more game' nights anymore.

I just play a few hours a day, I haven't got time for it to take over my life, Its no different to reading a book really, I enjoy it, and it helps understanding tactics and reading the game in real life

Have you ever played? The game is so sodding accurate it really gives you a better understanding. It doesn't give you the level that would be expected of a top quality manager or any pro manager for that matter but it gives an education to most at least

When I was out of work I got to year 2043 or something FM 2010.

Started with England in 2009, won the 2010 World Cup resigned and took charge of Spurs for a couple years won the League Cup and two Europa Leagues. Then took the Man Utd job and won about 30 league titles and about 10 Champions League's.

I think the game is still saved on my mums laptop.

I've avoided buying since. I'd get addicted to it.

I have. How exactly does it help you to understand football? It's a load of uninspiring sprites moving around the screen in repetitive ways with very few animations. And each decision is effectively made via a dice roll.

What resemblance does it have to real football?

what you mean is RNG - random number generator, but yes like a dice roll really, I never liked football manager, its more like a database than an actual game, the actual matches are bad as **** and looks nothing like a game of football

and tbe fact how easy it is to win the Champions league and whatnot, the database is fantastic but the actual managerial simulation is turd

It's only realistic if you don't play a single game and just keep updating the database.

But I do bloody love FM.

To all those questioning i am pretty certain SI some kind of deal with someone for managers to start using the database FM has.

That is clearly the best thing about FM, the database is excellent and the data on their games are unreal.

I just don't see the need for some FM non players to come and detract from what the thread is about.

On topic i am just downloading the update and will no doubt give Hull City a game, just hard to give up on the save i currently have. Taking Birmingham City to Premier League glory hopefully!

Amazing how many wonderkids on the game actually turn into world class players in real life.

I remember on the 2010 version players like Alexis Sanchez, Stevan Jovetic, Neven Subotic, Mats Hummels, Gareth Bale, Cesar Azpilicueta , Aaron Ramsey, Nemanja Matic, Jordi Alba, Javier Pastore, Marco Verratti, James Rodríguez, Neymar, Romelu Lukaku and Robert Lewandowski where all rated wonderkids.
