What are your thoughts on Chelsea and Everton wanting to have feeder teams and or the reserve teams in any of the leagues from the Conference to the Championship to bring on their players. Apparently Moyes had said that he was not bothered which ground they would play at in the Liverpool area but they would have to play home games on the alternate weekend to that of Everton. Villas-Boas wants his reserves to play in the Championship and accepts that they would never be promoted to the premiership. My personal feeling is the Premier League teams have enough powers in England without trying to take over the lower leagues. If Villas-Boas got his way about the reserves not being promoted it could be the thin end of the wedge to stop other teams getting promoted to the Premiership.
The big Clubs have B teams in the lower leagues in Spain for example because they don't have the strength in depth of clubs that we have with our 92 strong PL/FL. The second tier in Spain is about as well supported as our Lg1 or 2 Clubs - after that they have eight or nine regions in the third tier and the support/standard is pretty poor. AVB in particular is way off the mark in understanding the strength in depth of the English game.
I think the rules on the pyramid as they stand are unlikely to change enough to accommodate that or quite some time.
It's a ridiculous idea when we have so many clubs, but as with the Old Firm, if they want to play in our system the PL reserve teams should be made to start at the bottom of the pyramid and promote themselves up. (in the Old Firm's case paying the travelling expenses of the away teams having to travel to Scotland)
