what happened? ive been watching the arrows, but people have put on facebook a load of stuff about boots...
Definite free-kick, the stupid twat should have tied his laces properly and then he wouldn't have cost his side a goal. Not that Rafael's daydreaming helped...
His boot fell off whilst Man U were attacking and in possession of the ball, the ref gave possession to Atletic who promptly went and scored.
Evra had the ball on the byline in Athletic's half, but he'd lost his boot. He then played the ball to Rooney and the ref waited to see if Athletic won the ball back before bringing play back for a free-kick. Bilbao booted it upfield and scored their 3rd goal.
What Rafael did was just as bad in my book, in fact when Fergie sees that again I think Rafael is in the **** to put it mildly!
why did the red give possesion to bilbao for a boot falling off,? i dont understand, am i being thick? ,
To be fair I didn't either, twas funny though given Man U were on a pretty good attack. Rafael also made a huge bodge by going to sleep and letting their lad run the ball in the net after De Gea made a good save, De Gea looks like a top goalie now, about the only thing they would take out of the match was his performance, some world class saves.
That is correct according to FIFA ruling 34. Section 5(sub section 4a). My mate used to play to a decent standard in Zambia, where he lived, and one of his team mates didn't wear shoes, trainers or any other kind of footwear. To get 'round said ruling this player used to wear his boots on his hands.
The proper regulation probably states that you need to be in full possession of all your kit whilst on the pitch, so playing football one-booted would result in a free-kick given to the opposing team as a consequence. The refs have to know the rulebook so no doubt it was a correct decision. One of the other Man U players lost one of their boots too, might have been Young, and I noticed Hernandez fiddling with his bootlaces so it wasn't just Evra having boot issues, maybe they gave them new boots before the game.
So how do you explain what's on page 65 here: http://ar.fifa.com/mm/document/affederation/generic/81/42/36/lawsofthegame_2011_12e.pdf
