Whilst there is a definite irony to David Moyes commenting that 'divers' should be punished retrospectively - given that Ashley Young has all but perfected into his one and only party piece - I nevertheless applaud his stance

... it has crept into the game more and more and for me has to be seen as the equivalent of the straight red for preventing a goal scoring opportunity etc ... thoughts?

I'd love for it to become a straight red card offense however I don't think refs should be pressured into making that decision there and then, they already have too much to think about. Let them decide whether its a penalty/free kick at that moment and not even consider the thought of diving. Someone else watching the game (fourth official maybe) looks at it and uses cameras to rightly decide whether it is a dive or not and that player gets a 1 match ban minimum for the offense or maybe even more. That is one area the game really needs to address and hit hard on players because it should not be acceptable in any form yet a hell of a lot of players get away with not even getting a yellow most of the time.
