The Tour of Spain (la Vuelta a Espana) finished yesterday, with two Sky riders - Chris Froome and Bradley Wiggins - finishing 2nd and 3rd. This is the first occasion on which Britons have stood on the final podium in a 'Classic'. The Tour of Britain began yesterday, and this first stage was won by the 'Manx Missile', Mark Cavendish, of HTC-Highroad team. This UK Tour is the last appearance of the fabled HTC 'train' which has propelled Cav to so many sprint victories.
Just had a message from my mate....he's getting me a Press Pass for me to use when Stage 7 (Norfolk) comes near me. I'll be able to get into Sandringham Estate grounds without giving Her Nibs a penny! Hopefully I'll get to see the HTC 'train' pull Mark Cav to another victory!
I've come up with a new game - "Chess: British Edition". There's no King, the Queen does **** all and the Blacks never follow the rules. Just winding you up, guys.
The 150km 3rd stage of the Tour of Britain (Stoke-on-Trent to Trentham Gardens) was won by Lars Boom of Rabobank. Mark Cavendish finished 5th. Overall, Boom leads Cavendish by 3 seconds.
Stage 4: Welshpool - Caerphilly. Won by Thor Hushovd (Garmin-Cervelo); Lars Boom 2nd. Overall: Boom still has leader's jersey; Geraint Thomas (Sky) 2nd @ 12 secs. Mark Cavendish now 19th @ 40 secs.
Stage 5 of the Tour (Exeter - Exmouth): Mark Renshaw (HTC-Highroad), team-mate of Mark Cavendish, won the stage - with Cav second. Overall, Lars Boom (Garmin-Cervelo) leads, with Geraint Thomas (Sky) second. Stephen Cummings, also of Sky, is 8th @ 19 secs and Mark Cavendish (HTC-Highroad) is 14th @ 34 secs.
Stage 6: Taunton - Wells (150km) Result: Lars Boom (Rabobank) wins, extending lead, and will (barring disaster) be the winner in London, on Sunday. Steve Cummings (Sky) was 5th. Overall: 1st - Lars Boom; 3rd - Dan Lloyd (GBr) of Garmin-Cervelo @ 29 secs; 5th - Steve Cummings (GBr) of Sky @32 secs.

Couldn't get around to updating this thread last night. Saw the race about 3 miles from here. They were some 8 miles from finishing at Sandringham. Here's a link, if you're interested: http://www.cyclingnews.com/races/tour-of-britain-2-1-2/stage-7/results
So far today - i.e. the first half: http://www.cyclingnews.com/races/tour-of-britain-2-1-2/stage-8a/results
I don't watch it, I'm basing my opinions on what other people post on the internet. Y'know, like you do with City.
Well, you know, I follow City: watch matches (where possible); follow radio commentary; follow BBC text-feed, if that's all that's available. The last two times I was in Hull, I saw the last home game of last season - Crystal Palace - result:0-1; and the second time, this season, up for a funeral, City were away. And I read postings on here - learn quite a lot from them. You see, I'm only an amateur, as compared to yourself. You, my dear chap, know it all. You know that Adam Pearson is evil; you know that Nigel Pearson is a boring manager; you know that there was nothing at all wrong with Phil Brown's managership; and, above all, you know that Paul Duffen is your god. I pity you.....
