One of my favourite Dad´s Army characters, Clive Dunn, has passed away. www.radiotimes.com/news/2012-11-07/dads-army-star-clive-dunn-dies-aged-92 RIP Corporal Jones.
Unfortunately, I agree RBF. Thanks for many happy memories both in my childhood and adult life Clive and the rest of the team. RIP
I remember being given the morning off school to go and see them filming at the steam railway in Sheringham. I got all their autographs. Being a young kid at the time, it was never really looked after. How I wish I'd still got them all.
Hope his head stone reads " Dont Panic!" True comedy actor from a golden age of TV RIP Corporal Jones
Not so long ago there was a Dad's Army magazine and complete DVD collection released. I collected them all including binders, mug etc. Was and still is one of my favourite shows. Not many of the cast left now, only Bill Pertwee, Ian Lavender and the Vicar (who's name escapes me as I type), that's about it. R.I.P. Clive ..............."They don't like the cold steel Sir, they don't like it up 'em, they don't like it up 'em !"
Funny funny funny program, brilliantly acted, brilliantly written. Sadly no one seems to be able to do that kind of innocent fun anymore. Goodbye Clive Dunn R.I.P.
I guess I am showing my age perfectly that I first came across him as Grandad. Afraid I only discovered Dads Army later in life. Because of this I always kind of thought of him as an extra Grandad. A sad day indeed...
Interesting talk with Ian Lavender (Pike), who pays tribute to him here http://www.itv.com/news/update/2012-11-07/dads-army-co-star-ian-lavender-remembers-clive-dunn/
Am I also right in thinking that it was Clive Dunn who sung the theme to Dads Army? Never looked it up, just sounds like him. Hope it is, can just imagin Corporal Jones singin that song.
