I read about this. Her dad found it complete in her bedroom and asked her how long it took her to work out. "Fast." was her answer. So he challenged her again. Watch out for her comments in the top right hand corner.
Swift, respect. If I hadn't found Lambert & Butler aged 13 I'd have probably stuck to drawing, as I had (might still have) a natural aptitude for drawing from memory almost perfectly. I could have been one of those scruffy artists who never made it big time, but did have an impressive vitamin D deficiency. Anybody ever completed a Rubik's cube? That bit near the end would have killed me, with just two squares out, I'd have probably just smashed it up at that point.
I've only ever picked one up once, IIRC and I put it down about 15 seconds later. My gran used to pop round with them awful wooden puzzles every now and then, where you have to get the ring off the rope and off the wood, I think I snapped every one of them. I'm still not convinced they are real puzzles, they're just stupid.
I had one when iwas a teenager... I spent an hour every night on it for at least 4 weeks and got no more than 2 sides done.... Maybe I shouldve Concentrated as much on school work and I'd have had a better job earlier in my life than now!!!!
I remember when this first came out, about 1981(?). I couldn't do it then and I probably couldn't do it now. Well done to the little lass though, she does brilliant.
