You should get your lass to get a car sent over mate.

We only have French registered vehicles ....... no road tax to pay, no congestions charges or parking fines, it's a winner <ok>

No mate, they're significantly more expensive, vans are even worse.

We buy UK vehicles that have been exported and registered in France.

They have less value because they're RHD.

I've never been pulled but I imagine the police just assume we're on holiday.

Foreign cars account for approximately £3 million in lost road tax.

I do love a good pothole.

How can there be any lost road tax when it's registered and insured to our place in France?

Do all the cars registered in China lose the UK road tax as well?

This is the EEC and I'm entitled to bring my vehicles to the UK .......... just like thousands of French tourists every year.

I pay tax, when I'm in France, through the motorway tolls, there is no road tax system there.

the revenue from car tax doesn't go into fixing roads it goes into the government coffers -some of the funds are being used to drop bombs in Iraq :steam:

Nice of you to keep track <ok>

We used to live in France and commute to the Midlands.

Now we do it the other way round, just arranging a trip down there this month as it happens.

That's like from one of those "Reports" you hear about on the radio isn't it.

On the radio this morning I heard (seriously) "A new report has found that teenagers do not consider whether a song has swearing in it when they log on to YouTube to watch a music video".

Somewhere, somebody incredibly boring is 'reporting' things that make their way to radio stations.

That's where money is being lost in this country, forget about road tax.

A new report has found that binge eating from Fat Abdul's Kebab Barn leads to greasy fingers and some are even reporting the possibility of weight gain.

Who will benefit from this? Scum and criminals thats who. No tax no insurance, and unless they drive daft etc and get pulled by the police they'll get away with it. The out of date tax disc is the first sign of a dodgy motor.

I used to do a bit of this in Spain mate, we used to fly over to Crawley and buy Spanish plated cars, drive them back over and sell them.

We only did a few, but like France, used cars in Spain are way more expensive, we could by a left hooker Range in Crawley for 10k, drive it to Marbella, and hand it straight to a dealer for €20,000.

Once you factor in ferry, fuel etc about 6k profit split 2 ways for 18 hours graft, usually a good ****ing laugh to boot.
