When I was a young lad I used to use a company called Adrian Flux, they are a broker specialising in young drivers who don't want **** cars, I was an XR2i/Ford RS/Golf GTI type of ****er ;)

Now that I'm old, eSure cheapest by ****ing miles, it's one good thing about getting old, I insure a 3.0 for just over £300!

Direct Line are very good if your postcode fits, if you are SR1-5, don't bother, ha.

I used Castle insurance in Gilesgate... Not even sure if they exist anymore.

I'm renewing at the moment and the thing that really pisses me off is when you get your renewal and they say "Well you won;t get cheaper as we've searched to ensure the best deal" then you ring back to say "I can get cheaper" and they say "OK we'll match it" - I personally tell them to stick it as they should've quoted me their best in the first place.

I tried Direct Line (DH1 5 postcode) and Aviva and other "non-comparisons" and they're all 3 times the comparison - OK so their deals are better if you have an accident but it's an extra 4 or 5 hundred quid a year!! Suppose it depends on where you are and your circs!

I used confused.com mate, and eSure was ridiculously lower than anywhere else, over £100, or 25% based on the premium.

I'm due in May so no doubt it'll go up year 2...

Be careful with comparison sites they share information. So while trying to find that cheapest deal, you might find the originally agreed price gaining extra charges, if the criteria you input differs on in the varied search. Example would be in being careful in what is declared as vehicle modifications and standard spec. If you get it wrong, they'll come back and try and bite yer for more cash.

If you are under 25 best off seeing a broker. Direct companies like Norwich Union and Direct Line aren't on comparison sites but aren't competitive unless you are over 30 or so. I work in insurance anyway so if u need advice on owt let me know
