I posted before the beginning of the season that BTSport would be the first real competitor Sky have ever had and it looks like my prediction is coming true. BT have secured exclusive rights to all 350 European Champions League and Europa League matches from 2015 for three seasons. Yet more football to add to their portfolio and their pledge to make football more affordable is great news, only time will tell on that one we will have to wait and see. As far as BT's wealth is concerned, well we're talking telephone numbers (pardon the pun), so IMO it's great that we now have a real choice and I would suggest that we may well see even more EPL football on BT when the contract is up for renewal. Considering that this season is BT's first at broadcasting football, they are not doing a bad job. http://sport.bt.com/sportfootball/f...ions-league-and-europa-league-S11363847946944
I would like to see much more analysis of games rather than stating the obvious all the time. The pundits are there based on reputation rather than actual knowledge. Michael Owen and David James are pure examples of that, the latter didn't even know who Maarten Stekelenburg was. Baring in mind he has won over 50 caps for Holland and is a goalkeeper, I think that's pretty shoddy for a pundit. I spoke about Pat Nevin yesterday. Neville and Carragher are the same, I actually learn stuff of them.
Im always a fan of ITV showing less football, generally I've found that BT are doing some interesting stuff. For me I like the fact that you can use Airplay from their app which you can't on sky which is a big plus for me. What i really hope is that this move will see a big push back from sky, which can only be good for televised sport.
I currently pay nothing for the BTSport HD and ESPN HD sport channels as well as receiving Eurosport 1 & 2 for nowt, I'm not naive enough though to think that this will last forever. BT have payed a hell of a lot for this deal but interestingly their first 6 month's pre-tax profit this year was more than what they have paid for this deal £948M !! Dan Roan BBC chief sports correspondent "This is a staggering statement of intent from BT, changing the landscape of sports broadcasting and sending shock waves throughout British football. "Having already secured 38 Premier League games a season, BT has now taken its offering to a whole new level by going all out to land exclusive live rights to the most coveted tournament in club football. "BT must now hope these prized rights will significantly increase its subscribers and encourage more customers to buy broadband, phone and television services from them. "Uefa and the clubs will be delighted at the increase in television revenue, but both viewers and sponsors will be concerned that, for the first time since it began, live Champions League games will not be shown on terrestrial TV. "BT has agreed to show some games free to air, but this will be of little comfort to many fans. The deal represents arguably the biggest defeat Sky has suffered since it began sports broadcasting, and is further proof that its latest rival presents a much sterner challenge than predecessors Setanta or ESPN ever did. "It is also grave news for ITV which had already lost the FA Cup rights and must now hope it can cling on to the Champions League and Europa League highlights."
Rupert Murdoch is the anti christ . BT Sports is good plus you get eurosport and ESPN too for free HD.. Sky is better though.
So SKY won't be showing any Champions League games from 2015? It's not really good news there's even less live football on terrestrial tv, but I can see how it's good for competition between SKY and BT. Although I don't really like the idea that you have to pay for 2 different subscriptions if you want to watch more sport. Also dislike the BT presenters and commentators.
It's a question of what and who you are used to and as I have said previously, this is BT's first season so I will reserve judgement on that
