Went by it yesterday. Derelict, I asked around and apparently its going to be knocked down and an Aldi built there!!

Me and some mates used to climb over the wall and nick the bottles and then take em to the offy. Used to get chased by the geese John used to keep too.

I had some great times in Bridges, used to get some cracking women go in there. There used to be some great fights on the car park now and again too. I remember when it was Ms Bridges Wet T shirt competition and we all brought water pistols. The winner lived down my street and i ahem walked her home.

There was the burger van wars, with two competing burger vans having regular scraps. Made the front page of HDM back in the day. Used to have pub trips to the races.

John Gore used to have it when i first started going in then Steve took it over. Used to have some good lock ins in there and always was easy to get served after Time was called. Then Roy who was a great landlord too, his lad was a City Junior and really should have made it.

When you used to walk in there in the 80's you used to hang your coat up, and it'd still be there at the end of the night!! Kin hell who'd do that now??

    God I'm ****ing pissed off

I can remember years ago when local pubs were busy....we used to go in the Drake on Bransholme for the pool knockout on a Friday night, with Alan Ford Disco. If you werent in by 7PM you could not get a seat.

When you got knocked out the pool, we used to get taxis to Bridges for their disco, and watch the seemingly weekly punch up that always used to spill into the car park.

Bridges has been dead for ages, it cannot compete with Sutton Fields opposite, they used to sell beer for well under £2 a pint, and it is always packed in there cheap food cheap beer, footy on loads of screens.
But having killed the competition, its nearly £3 a pint now.

When I went to Bridges to play in the darts team Bransholme wasn't even built. Some years later, in the 80s, I lived almost next door to it, it was great. OH happy days!

Greenwood was levelled too a couple of weeks ago. Looks like a Herons / Fultons type thing going up on the land.

Bridges is the wrong side of Sutton Road so to speak these days and not frequented by people living on the private housing estate built behind whereas the more recent Sutton Fields is better accessed for people working on Sutton Fields Ind Estate.. planning permission currently being sought for a supermarket by Marstons Brewery for the Bridges site

Some of the tubes in there use to think the last orders bell ment round one!! You'd hear the bell then wait to get wet as the first pint was thrown. We'd often walk over from Sutton fields about 22:40 get a pint and a ringside view. I remember one guy starting on the juke box......oh happy days :)

Never really went in Bridges that often. Back in the day I frequented Pennine Rambler, which was nowhere near as rough as everyone made out.

I'm wondering whether Chazz was a Sutton Parker or a Bransholme lad.

    I reckon Sutton Park.

That stretch of road was built in the 30`s. It sounds like the plans never progresed as expected, given the lack of actual bridges. Mind you, roundabout's a **** name for a pub...unless you add fiveways to it, even if there's only four!
