I've just found out about these imminent changes to the daytime schedules, which will see Victoria Derbyshire, Shelagh Fogarty and Richard Bacon all leave the station. And guess who - in their infinite wisdom, they're bringing in as replacements? Adrian 'rubber-face' Chiles, ffs?! From hard hitting professional journalism to inane banter with a ****ing annoying black country twang Have they not learned first hand from his pathetic attempts to 'anchor' a programme when the ref took our players off because of lightning in a pre world cup warm up game?? Cringeworthy in the extreme. Oh well, BBC, that's another listener you'll have to do without. http://www.mirror.co.uk/tv/tv-news/victoria-derbyshire-leaves-bbc-5live-3802035#.U7UQVhXwJTA.twitter
Totally agree Cromer. Victoria Derbyshire was absolute quality as indeed was Shelagh Fogarty. Do we know why they are leaving? The other one that was shelved was Gabby Logan but she was the pits, a total lightweight. Chiles is poor and it all reflects badly on the station which is my favourite. BBC goes downhill further.
Rumours are Victoria Derbyshire set to be the new presenter of Newsnight, which would be a cracking gig for her. She has said that she is leaving 5 Live due to "an offer she couldn't turn down", so it's not as if she's been sacked or anything. I like Richard Bacon actually, I certainly like him considerably more than that muppet Chiles
i was disappointed to hear about the changes but now you've told me adrian ****ing chiles is coming in i'm bloody livid. never have i wanted to smash someone in those annoying brummie chops so much. big mistake bbc, big mistake.
Victoria Derbyshire would be excellent on Newsnight - she's professional, objective and has a sense of humour. I thought the Nicky Campbell Morning Show went downhill a tad when both she and Shelagh Fogerty left - listen to Absolute Radio more now. Adrian Chiles eh - a very good reason not to tune in......
I'm a 6 Music man myself in the morning, Shaun Keaveney is very possibly my favourite ever breakfast show. He plays brilliant music and his banter is hilarious, has me in stitches every day. In fact the current 6 Music line-up is as good a a line-up as I can remember. I'm a big fan of Lauren Laverne, Mark Radcliffe and Steve Lamacq during the day (not so mad about Maconie if I'm being honest), and Marc Riley during the evening (when there's no football on of course) and I always listen to Mary-Ann Hobbs on weekends, love her playlists and she's got the best voice of the lot!
Not to mention a very infectious giggle! I like Huey and even some of the stuff Cerys Matthews plays - prefer her DJing to singing I have to switch to XFM at the first sounds of Sean Keaveney or the very lame Radcliffe and Maconie - but Jo Goode on XFM from 13.00 hrs (same as R & M ) plays some really excellent stuff. Only complaint with XFM - apart from ****ing infuriating adverts, of course, is an over-reliance on Arctic Monkeys and Jake bloody Bugg.
Until they sort out the absolutely dire radio reception especially around early evenings I shant bother listening to it! I used to listen to 5 Live all the time but I got pissed off with the interference crackling etc! Sort it out BBC!
Not in a car no! And why should people be made to change to digital radio in order to listen to things in any case! We pay our bloody licence fee which is extortiante enough as it is!
ah, well i listen to my iphone in the car which picks up digital, not that i listen to the radio much in the car - just sport usually - prefer to chose my music!
You'll now be listening more to the sounds of "Humpty Dumpty", "Jack & Jill" and all those other memorable classics!
Santy Claus you Cnut! Where's me ****ing Bike! Can we still say Bah bah Blacksheep or is that now banned?
I've had an IPod for about 8 years and listen to it a hell of a lot, my most played song is Obstacle 1 by Interpol which is on something like 290 plays - however I estimate that I've heard Wheels On The Bus at least five times as many as that just in the past six months alone! Just moved on to Grand Old Duke Of York as the new favourite in the past few weeks, think I actually preferred the Wheels On The Bus however as that doesn't require nearly as much lifting!
obstacle 1 by interpol - what a great record that was. interpol always remind me of one of my other favourite bands, television
marquee moon. remember my dad handing me a copy when i was about 14 and really getting into my music and i just fell in love with it.
