Not sure who was looking for one, but as a heads up BMB in Goole (the Manufacturer of Baracuta, at least until they move to Italy in Sept!!) have Harrington jackets at £40 or 2 for £70. Bonafide items, some traditional colours ie beige and some really **** 80s throwback colours like lime green. Anyway, the shop is McDonalds exit at Goole on the M62, head towards Goole, past B&Q and you'll see the shop last on the right before a 90 degree left hand bend. Sell suits and all sorts of kelt! Treasure trove for Alexandre Saville Row ties etc Seemed a decent price to me, and at least if you get one from here you're getting a British made one before we sell the soul of another UK brand!
I don't think most of them are British made now, only the stuff in the 'Made in England' collection(which will continue to be made in England after it moves).
They are all still made in the UK, for another 4/5 months at least. I think these are actually made in Goole, who'd have thought it! Goole, at least good for something! Or so the lady in the shop said, her info is as good as the next.
Yes I was looking. Couldn't make my mind up on what harrington to get, so bought myself a baracuta anorak for now along with a couple of nice bed sherman knitted polo's. Definitely still want a harrington or two, so cheers for the heads up.
A mate of mine used to run the company, I just sent him a message asking where they're made. I think some are imported, some are made in the UK, but I don't think any are made in Goole. I'll let you know.
Maybe BMB make them under licence? They have a raft of brands including Melka, Racing Green. Alexandre ties are the prized score though, can't fault the swag on this months visit!
http://www.bmb-menswear.co.uk/brands.asp Just had a quick look on the website above, Baird Menswear do have Baracuta listed as one of their 'Progressive' brands. Whether moving production to Italy could deemed progressive is anyone's guess!
He got back to me, some are made in the UK, some are made in Europe, he didn't mention Goole but I'm pretty sure there's no factory there, just an outlet store. The Italians bought it because it's an English heritage brand, they've no intention of moving the production to Italy, if anything they'll increase the amount of it that's made in the UK. Just as happened with Belstaff.
Definitely a factory in Goole, it's the massive building on the right just before the outlet. Times are hard for Hull City news, here I find myself talking about jackets! FFS City, sort it out!
He's just confirmed there's no factory in Goole, it's just a warehouse and an outlet store. And the Italians do plan to continue to make the goods in the England. More jacket related news to follow...
Not much else to talk about, we've done MK, we've done swipe cards, we've done jackets. How about shoes?
