I can think of a few groups of people where the "Washing" part of the name should be more offensive.

This has been going on for some years now and was the result of a protest by Native American Indian elders. In defence of their protest their legal representative said that the African Americans would soon be jumping up and down if they were called the Washington 'N-word's!!! The American Indians are the ones who find the word offensive. Perhaps the Washington 'Reds' would satisfy all concerned.
This 'name-changing' has been going on here in Oz for some time now especially when the Australian Rules games went national. Looking at most league ladders now you will find that North Melbourne are now the "Kangaroo's" whilst Brisbane are the "Lions", Sydney the "Swans" , Essendon the "Bombers" etc., etc.,
I have noticed that in a number of National Dailies the English Premier League has us down as Hull Tigers and not Hull City.

Wouldn't the Washington Reds be offensive to all Americans, they've been rather obsessed with the commies in the past?
