IF Bolton and DQPR win there home games this afternoon(sunday) then that almost relegates Blackburn Rovers a day before there MUST WIN home game with Wigan Athletic on monday night. This being the case who gets the 3rd and final relegation spot and why ? Who would it be best for us to play next season ?

I would prefer it to be Bolton for travelling reasons but I can really see Aston Villa going down IF they dont get something from there home game with Spurs today. Over to you now folks.!!!!

yes i know it should read 2011/12 PL relegation. <doh> Maybe a MOD can change it. <cheers>

I'd like to see Villa get sucked in a vanish, but I think they might be just far enough away.

I change my mind constantly on this. I think Blackburn will be gone after this weekend, and I think....QPR will be the last ones.

Bolton are a funny team, at times pretty decent and at other times, dreadful. I think they have a tiny bit more than QPR.

I've enjoyed watching the relegation scrap this year. Far more fun than the top of the league.

I really don't want QPR coming down as i am pretty sure Mark Hughes will stay and most of their players will to, as they will say give us one year in the Championship and get us back up there and then we will splash the cash again. I would much rather Wigan or Villa come down as i think both will really have problems keeping their players, Bolton i think are financially not to bad, and i like Owen Coyle. This is all presuming Blackburn come down and keep Steve Kean, so they should be no problem.

I like kean so hope Blackburn stay up. Doubt it though. I want villa to come down too it's good to see a bigger sized team come down once in a while.

I'd love it to be Villa purely because of Mcleish. He plays the most depressing 'aim for 0-0 every time' football I have ever seen and him and indeed the Villa board would get what they deserved. If it was an Italian team everyone would say the were the very spirit of 1960's catenaccio.

I hate QPR, so for that reason, them to complete the dream trio of Wolves, Blackburn and QPR.

Villa are safe now really. A point will confirm it from 2 games. Their goal difference is so much better. Blackburn arent going to beat Wigan and Chelsea, so they are down.
Bolton have the easier 2 games, West Brom and Stoke. Qpr need to win today to get 37 points as they will not get out from Man City on the last day.

So Wolves Blackburn and hopefully QPR for me.

Blackburn are as good as gone, Wigan are on form and Villa despite playing poorly will be saved by their goal difference. That leaves the Dramas and Bolton. If QPR better Bolton's result today then it's in their hands going into next week and can lose at Man City (which you would expect them to) and still stay up. If Bolton equal or better QPR's result you'd back them to stay up, I can't see them letting it slip if they have the front foot on QPR going into next week. Other than the relegation battles, it looks like it'll be a cracking game up at Newcastle.

I don't know about that, I think the situation at the top has been more interesting than normal this year. The top 2 taking it down to the final day, where it could be decided by goal difference. 3rd to 6th is so close as well. You've got Arsenal in 3rd who with 1 game left for them could well be overtaken by all 3 teams below them and go from a guaranteed CL position (rather than the 4th placed team who get a playoff) to getting a Europa League place. Plus if you get Tottenham drawing and Newcastle losing today all the talk for the week will be about whether it's going to be Arsenal or Spurs that gets the all important 3rd place (thanks to Chelsea's CL Final appearance to come) and bragging rights in North London. I can see them both ballsing that up and Newcastle nicking it.

EDIT: I know the thread title is technically correct, but are you getting ahead of yourself a bit there Tickler?

Relegation wise, Wolves are obviously down, and Blackburn probably will be as well. I'd like to see Villa join them as it's the easiest one for me to get to cheaply, and I was too young for the League Cup game (I started going with a couple of my mates, and none of our parents were into football to take us). QPR I can do cheaply travel wise, but I'd have to stop over which adds to the cost and I'll probably only be able to afford one or two away games anyway.

I can see Bolton going down, just the whole air about the place seems to be so depressing and even when 2-0 up today they can't win. It reminds me of when we went down with the constant disappointments.

Bolton are in debt up to their eyeballs with no players of real sizeable value

Expect another Pompey if they were to go down

Current bottom 3 for me. All need wins to get out of it and just don't look like getting them any time soon. Shame for Bolton because they've got some good players and they try to play the right way but seem to have neglected defence a bit in doing so, some of the goals they've conceded have been shocking.

Yes a tad. Can you amend it from 2012/13 to 2011/12 please ? <cheers>

After sundays games Blackburn have gone now and Bolton looks the most likely to make it a Lancs double. 2-0 up and they foooked it up. Now thats familiar aint it ? <whistle>

Current 3 to go down. QPR won't get anything at the Etihad, but conceding that goal yesterday was the worst thing that could happen to Bolton and it's gonna be tough for them to get the win they need at Stoke.

But achievable, all they need is a win, knowing QPR are unlikely to get anything. Bolton play under less pressure away from home - I can see a Bolton win.

    Stoke City 1-3 Bolton Wanderers

That's my prediction. Wigan stayed up there last season on the final day, and I think Bolton can do it this year

Stoke hardly rolled over yesterday and made things difficult for the dramas. It's not beyond Bolton to go to Stoke and get a result, I just wonder how damaging those 2 late goals West Brom scored and QPR's late winner will be to them. They were 10 minutes away from been in the driving seat for survival and it slipped away from them. Kind of hoping Bolton go down as the Reebok is a ground I haven't been to and QPR is miles away and we never seem to do well there!

After the results yesterday I can't see the bottom 3 changing. Mark Hughes is going to take QPR to Man City & try & do everything to beat them, for his old team & his current one. But Bolton blew it & they will know it, mentally they will be screwed next week & I expect Stoke to beat them by 3 or 4!
